Toowoomba two year old Uncle Frank found one too good last start over this course and distance but gets his chance to find the winner’s stall after drawing the rails again from this tricky start. Mishani Fraudster handled the step up to Saturday Metro class okay when third over 1200m at the Sunshine Coast and can acquit himself well again from gate two. Mishani Miss scored an upset win over the Eagle Farm 1000m course last start and has claims again with a repeat performance and stablemate Mishani Vandal is also in the mix again.
2 Units Uncle Frank
Shalwa is facing a huge drop in class and is better suited here than his last start eighth in Listed company over 1200m at Eagle Farm On December 28. The Tony Gollan trained mare will get the run of the race from the inside gate. L’Amante strung together two wins at the Gold Coast before finishing third over 1050m at Doomben last start and has won a 1000m Doomben trial since. Leshrac has had two barrier trials in preparation for his return to the track and Maidenover had a win and two placings at Toowoomba before her last start second at Ballina.
3 Units Shalwa
Trevelyan has been ultra-consistent with three wins and six placings from his last nine starts and deserves to find the winner’s stall again and will get every chance from gate five. Gresham is fitter for recent racing and is a three times winner over 1600m. Mawaany Machine hasn’t raced since finishing down the track in the Group 3 Newcastle Cup (2300m) at Newcastle in September but will appreciate the huge drop in class and Savwell has been prepared for his return with two Sunshine Coast barrier trials, his latest a win over 1200m.
5 Units Trevelyan
Le Juge is hard to catch but he is a winner over this course and distance and gets his chance to find the winner’s stall again. The Chris Waller trained stablemate New Universe found himself back amongst the prizemoney last start when second to Cool Chap over 1600m at Eagle Farm and both horses can figure in the mix again and Our Mantra will be fitter for one run back from a spell.
2 Units Le Juge
Ditmas is resuming and has a three from three first up record and will get every chance from the inside gate. Six Sigma has had a freshen up since winning a 1200m Class 5 Handicap at Eagle Farm and has in-form apprentice Stephanie Thornton in the saddle. Let’s Cheer Again is racing in outstanding form with three wins from his last three starts at the Sunshine Coast and Pizonie has been placed at his last two starts over this course and distance, but has a wide gate to contend with.
2 Units Ditmas
Akage and Red Doulton are set to do battle again after finishing first and second over this course and distance last start and could fight out the finish again. Impasse is fitter for one run back from a spell and three of his five wins have been over 1400m and Magnufighter is resuming and has won first up in the past and apprentice Stephanie Thornton is certain to give the five year old every chance from the inside gate.
2 Units Akage
Winning form is good form and Alderman will step out as one of the main chances as he chases a hat trick of wins after victories at the Sunshine Coast and Doomben. Downloading is on the improve and ran his best race this time in last start when second to Slow Hands over 1615m at Doomben and meets that galloper 4.5kg better at the weights. The Kingdom has won two of his last four starts and can figure in the mix again.
2 Units Alderman
Manaya has shown plenty of ability in the past, has won first up, is a winner over this course and distance and is well prepared for her first up assignment with two Gold Coast barrier trials under her belt. The Chris Waller trained pair of The Avenger and Fortensky are both first up and the race day betting will be the best guide and Freddie Fox Trot is fitter for two runs back from a spell.
3 Units Manaya
Bells Approaching made up plenty of ground from the back when second over the Eagle Farm 1200m course and gave the impression he is looking for the 1400m and is at handy each way odds. Baroda and Ingear finished first and second in a Doomben mid-week and both get their chance in Saturday company and look for improvement from Gold Coast filly Take Tea.
