2019: The Gold Coast Suns Had Their Most Recent Win
The clash between the two cellar dwellers of last years AFL season lived up to its reputation as the Gold Coast Suns and Carlton fought out a two-point thriller at Metricon Stadium in Round 4 of 2019.
Carlton looked to have their first win of the 2019 season sealed after a Patrick Cripps goal late in the last quarter put the Blues in front by five points.
But the Suns wouldn’t give up, battled their way into the forward line with a snap from Jack Bowes resulting in the match-winning goal putting the Suns in front with only 12 seconds left in the game.
The win would be Gold Coast’s third on the trot, making them start season 2019 with three wins, one loss (by a point to St Kilda in the opening round) and sitting in sixth spot on the ladder after Round 4.
Carlton would go on to have their first win for 2019 the following week defeating the Western Bulldogs by 44 points and the Suns wouldn’t win a game for the remainder of the 2019 season.
The Blues would sack coach Brendon Bolton at the half-way point of last season, bring in David Teague as caretaker and eventual senior coach and play some exciting football to finish off the year.
Gold Coast became a percentage booster for anyone who played them and won yet another wooden spoon.

1996: The Great Shark Choke
April 14th marks a significant day for Golf Fans with two very iconic events of recent times occurring at the Masters.
It was this time last year, the original Tiger King – Tiger Woods won his fifth Masters, his first Masters in 14 years and his first major victory in 10 years after an eventful period of back problems and sex scandals.
After five co-leaders at on stage, Tiger managed to hold his own and get the job done via a final round of 70 finishing 13 under, one clear of Dustin Johnson, Xavier Schauffele and Brooks Koepka.

April 14th, 1996 is a day that Greg Norman would rather forget but has haunted him forever.
We all know the story – the Shark gave up a six-stroke lead on the final day of the Masters which resulted in Englishman Nick Faldo taking out the green jacket, 5 strokes ahead of Greg Norman.
Norman’s collapse in 1996 remains one of the greatest chokes in the history of world sport.
1968: The first NBA game at Madison Square Garden
One of the most famous and iconic venues in world sport, Madison Square Garden hosted its first-ever NBA match on this day in 1968 between the New York Knicks and the then known San Diego Clippers.
“The Garden” has become synonymous with New York City’s Basketball, Hockey, Concerts, Entertainment and the city in general since it opened and has hosted many special and iconic moments in the 50+ years of its existence and is a must-see when normality resumes and you can travel to the Big Apple.
For the record, the New York Knicks beat the Clippers to christen their new home.
