A field of seventeen is set to line up in the 2020 Group 1 $1m Epsom Handicap at Randwick on Saturday.
Sydney’s champion trained Chris Waller can snare a fifth Epsom Handicap over the Randwick 1600m if one of his five runners can find the post first.
Waller will saddle up Mister Sea Wolf, Star Of The Seas, Imaging, Yulong Prince and Funstar.
Team Hawkes will also have multiple runners with Wild Planet, Rock and Glenall.
We have analysed the entire field for the Group 1 over the famous ‘Randwick Mile’ and our complete 2020 Epsom Handicap tips can be found below!
Mister Sea Wolf
Mister Sea Wolf scored a solid win last start in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick and has barrier trialled since to keep his fitness levels up.
Has drawn a nice gate and will get every chance.
Star Of The Seas
Star Of The Seas has been ultra-consistent of late with two seconds at Randwick from two runs this preparation in the Group 1 Winx Stakes (1400m) and in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m).
Has drawn the rails and will get every chance to figure in the finish again after finishing third to Kolding last year.
Imaging completed the trifecta for Chris Waller with a third behind Kolding and Star Of The Seas in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick last start but will need more than his share of luck after drawing the outside gate in the capacity twenty-horse field.
Nettoyer is a four times winner over this course and distance, her latest win being in the 2020 Group 1 Doncaster Mile.
Nettoyer goes into the Epsom Handicap with only one run under her belt and will have to improve on her twelfth in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.
Brandenburg has drawn a nice barrier but is yet to win over the Randwick 1600m course and will find this tougher than his last start third in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Handicap (1400m) at Randwick.
Yulong Prince ran a handy race last start when second to stablemate Mister Sea Wolf in the Group 2 Chelmsford Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.
Harder here but will get a nice run from gate two.
The Candy Man
The Candy Man has some handy Queensland form but never threatened at his first run for Team Snowden when fourth in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle. Harder here.
Wild Planet has found winning form at the right time with a last start victory in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill.
Is yet to win beyond 1400m.
Niccanova has failed to threaten at three recent runs in Sydney. His latest a fifth in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill last Saturday.
Kiwi Group 1 winning mare Probabeel scored a handy win last start in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Stakes (1400m) at Randwick. Will need plenty of luck from a horror draw.
Funstar is another Chris Waller runner who was out of luck at the barrier draw, coming up with gate 19.
The 2019 Group 1 Flight Stakes ran a better race last start when second in the Group 2 Theo Marks Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill.
Rock returned to the winner’s stall last start in the Group 3 Cameron Handicap (1500m) at Newcastle but will find this tougher.
Colette was the winner od the 2020 Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) at Randwick during the Sydney Autumn Carnival and might be better suited over more ground.
The James Cummings trained mare latest effort saw her finish fifth in the Group 1 George Main Stakes (1600m) at Randwick.
Looks Like Elvis
Looks Like Elvis ran a handy race last when third to I Am Superman last week in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill and will find this tougher.
Riodini ran an improved race at his second run on Australian soil with a second in the Group 2 Shannon Stakes (1500m) at Rosehill. Is yet to win beyond 1400m but look for more improvement.
Glenall is stepping up sharply in class following his latest sixth in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.
Vanna Girl had terrific Brisbane Winter Carnival form with four wins on the trot but she failed to threaten first up when ninth in the Group 2 Tramway Stakes (1400m) at Randwick.
