The 2020 Ladbrokes Cox Plate is finally here!
This will be a Cox Plate Day like no other and the feature race, the 100th running of the Ladbrokes Cox Plate, is the obvious highlight but there is plenty of quality right across the card.
We have analysed every single race and our Cox Plate Day tips can be found below.
Race 1 - 11:40am
Strathmore Community Bendigo Bank Handicap (955m)
Ancestry is deserving of his status as a dominant favourite for the opening contest of the day at The Valley on Ladbrokes Cox Plate Day.
He was far too good for his rivals at Caulfield first-up and he never gave his rivals a chance when he bolted in to win the Apache Cat Classic at Cranbourne last star.
Michael Poy can ride him aggressively from the wide barrier draw and he does look to have a clear edge over the rest of this field.
I won’t be diving in at $1.60, but there is no doubt that he is the horse to beat.
Race 2 - 12:10pm
Inglis Banner (1000m)
The Inglis Banner is always a very difficult race for punters as the majority of this field will be making their racing debuts.
There isn’t much that we can go on in this contest and I would be following any betting moves.
Race 3 - 12:40pm
Group 3 Red Anchor Stakes (1600m)
Bella Nipotina is great value at her current quote of $4.80 in Red Anchor Stakes betting.
She showed her quality with a win in the Quezette Stakes first-up and she was thrown in the deep end against the older horses in the Moir Stakes.
The Pride Of Dubai filly bounced back to a semblance of her best form in the Thoroughbred Club Stakes at Caulfield and that does look like a fairly strong form racing going forward.
She makes her own luck right on the speed and she will give them something to chase.

Race 4 - 1:10pm
Group 2 Fillies Classic (1600m)
Ecumenical will need some luck in running from the wide barrier draw, but I still think that she is the horse to beat in the Moonee Valley Fillies Classic.
The Zebedee filly is due a change of luck after she had no luck in running whatsoever in both the Thousand Guineas Prelude and the Thousand Guineas.
Despite her tough run in transit, she still found the line strongly in the Thousand Guineas and this contest is a genuine drop in quality.

Race 5 - 1:40pm
Group 3 Powerflo Solutions Stakes (1600m)
This looks like a lovely race for Greysful Glamour.
She failed to fire in the Stocks Stakes, but her run in the Angst Stakes was excellent and she was only run down in the shadows of the post.
This race is no tougher and she has the early speed to cross this field to take up the running.
The Valley suits her racing pattern and she will give her rivals something to catch.

Race 6 - 2:15pm
Group 2 Drummond Golf Vase (2040m)
I am happy to forgive Cherry Tortoni for his defeat in the Spring Champion Stakes and give him another chance in the Drummond Golf Vase.
Nothing went to plan for Cherry Tortoni in the Spring Champion Stakes and his form before that had been strong.
I like the fact that he has previous experience at The Valley, he finished second behind Glenfiddich in the Stutt Stakes, and he will get a nice run in transit from barrier seven.

Race 7 - 2:50pm
Group 2 Crystal Mile (1600m)
Homesman is the class horse in the Crystal Mile field and I am happy to gamble that he is forward enough to make a winning return to the races.
It has been over a year since he recorded a race win, but he does run well fresh and he has had success over this trip at The Valley in the past.
On his best form, he has a genuine class edge over the rest of this field and it would not surprise if he was able to put a bit of a gap on his rivals in this contest.

Race 8 - 3:30pm
Group 2 Moonee Valley Gold Cup (2500m)
This is far from a vintage edition of the Moonee Valley Gold Cup and Selino looks like the stayer with upside.
He finished second in both the Chester Stakes and the Doncaster Cup in England this year and that form looks fairly strong compared to the local stayers in this field.
Selino has shown tactical versatility during his racing career to date and William Pike will have plenty of options in the early stages of this contest.

Race 9 - 4:15pm
Group 1 Ladbrokes Cox Plate (2040m)
This is a very open edition of the Ladbrokes Cox Plate and you can make a case for a number of runners in this field.
I think we will see an international winner of the Ladbrokes Cox Plate and I am happy to take on both Russian Camelot and Arcadia Queen.
Armory is the horse to beat.
He has a similar profile to 2014 Cox Plate winner Adelaide and he looks as though he will thrive in Australian conditions.
Armory finished third behind Magical and Ghaiyyath in the Irish Champion Stakes and that is form of the highest quality.
Aspetar is the value runner.
He beat a strong field to win the York Stakes in his final start before being sent to Australia and he will make his own luck right on the speed with Damian Lane in the saddle.
Magic Wand is another horse that I am confident will run better than her current odds suggest.
She isn’t the most consistent horse in the world, but she is capable of producing a high-rating performance on her day.
The fact that she has had previous success in Australia, she won the Mackinnon Stakes, and is a seasoned traveler is another tick in her favour.

Race 10 - 5:45pm
Listed Ladbrokes Crockett Stakes (1200m)
Written Beauty has recorded two wins from her three race starts and she is a filly with serious upside.
She has led from start to finish to win her past two starts by a combined total of eight lengths and the Written Tycoon filly has speed to burn.
James McDonald will ride her aggressively from the wide barrier draw and she will give her rivals something to run down.
