European Football Preview – October 31

Facebooktwittermail

With the Champions League and Europa League in full swing and a looming international break, there’s plenty of value to be found around Europe’s domestic leagues.

This week we are going to double dip in Italy while also picking out plays from Germany, Spain and France.

Read on to see who we are backing this weekend.

FC Crotone Vs Atalanta

Sunday 1 November, 1:00am, Stadio Ezio Scida

Crotone is one of the two remaining winless sides in Serie A with just a single point from its five matches to date.

The competition’s worst defence won’t be in for an easy day against an Atalanta side averaging three goals per match but they will be able to take some solace from the fact the visitors have lost their last two league matches by a combined score of 7-2.

Every Atalanta fixture this season has seen four or more goals scored and while I expect them to get back on track with a victory, there should be quite a few goals scored.

FC Koln Vs Bayern Munich

Sunday 1 November, 1:30am, RheinEnergieStadion

There is only one way to feel about this match and it is sorry for FC Koln.

They have not won in 15 Bundesliga matches, their last league victory came on March 7, back before the league shut down.

Bayern on the other hand are winning matches with their eyes closed, grinding out a 2-1 win away to Lokomotiv Moscow in the Champions League during the week.

That was the first time they were held to less than three goals in a match since late September and that match came 48 hours after the UEFA Super Cup.

I’ll back Bayern to score and put on a clinic against a struggling opponent.

Inter Milan Vs Parma

Sunday 1 November, 4:00am, San Siro

Remarkably, this is a fixture that has favoured the away side since Parma returned to Serie A in 2018 with three of the four meetings going the way of the visitors and the other one being a 2-2 draw.

I’m expecting that run to come to an end this weekend though as Inter looks to respond to the pressure mounting on Antonio Conte.

They have kept two clean sheets but have only won once in their last five matches.

I’ll back Inter look for an early goal or two then close up shop as they try and keep their third straight clean sheet.

Deportivo Alaves Vs FC Barcelona

Sunday 1 November, 7:00am, Estadio Mendizorrotza

While Barcelona’s domestic form has hit a bit of a slide with back to back defeats balancing out a pair of Champions League victories in that time.

That has them sitting in 12th place in La Liga, level on points with Alaves, a side they have a great history against.

They have won their last eight against Alaves, five of which were to nil including a 5-0 thumping in the corresponding match last season.

In fact, Barcelona have won their last six away matches against Alaves to nil and that’s the play for this one.

FC Nantes Vs PSG

Sunday 1 November, 7:00am, Stade de la Beaujoire

This fixture might be missing a bit of star power with both teams missing over half a dozen players and PSG backing up from a midweek Champions League match.

Perhaps that is why the market is giving Nantes an outside chance of springing an upset against the European runners up but that means there is value on offer for punters here.

PSG has won its last five Ligue 1 matches by a combined margin of 18 goals (or over three goals per match) and I’ll back them to come away with a comfortable victory here.

Back PSG to Win -1 Goal @ $2.05
