2YO Handicap (1000m) - Race 1 12:35pm AEDT

No exposed form to assess here and for that reason I will be staying out from a betting standpoint.

Mark Zahra put in a perfectly rated ride to lead from start to finish on Kaituku at Sandown last start over 2400m and the five year old again looks well placed in this event.

He has been placed in 10 of his 14 career starts and should be nearing peak fitness now at his fourth run in.

Peter Moody has a really strong hand here at Ladbrokes Park on Saturday and he saddles up three year old filly She Dances in the third.

She started this campaign in the Group 3 Red Roses at Flemington on Oaks Day where she was beaten 3.3 lengths and then came out and won impressively at Cranbourne at her next outing.

Drawn well and Luke Nolen should be able to control the race out in front.

Arktika looked well placed at The Valley last Friday night but is now being aimed at this race instead.

The daughter of Snitzel was an impressive winner at Moe two back before being beaten less than a length at headquarters on Oaks Day.

She’s drawn perfectly in barrier three and the step back to a mile is ideal.

Detonator Jack is a talented young racehorse with a heap of upside.

He is yet to miss a place in six career race starts which includes four wins.

Despite being beaten as favourite last start at Ballarat on a heavy track, he was far from disgraced and he will appreciate being back on top of the ground for this event.

Benchmark 78 Handicap (1400m) - Race 6 3:40pm AEDT

Peter Moody has produced another progressive and lightly raced four year old mare in the form of Life Lessons who has won both her starts so far this prep.

She won her maiden at Moe to kick start this campaign and then backed that up with a victory at Sandown Lakeside last time out.

This is another step up in class for the daughter of Tavistock but she will be required to carry just 54.5kg.

Benchmark 84 Handicap (1800m) - Race 7 4:20pm AEDT

Right You Are is a horse that performs a lot better on a firm surface and he should get that on Saturday here at Ladbrokes Park.

Two of his four career wins have been on a good track and he has been unplaced just once from seven attempts on the surface.

I’ve got quite an opinion of the grey gelding Riot And Rose who put together two really impressive wins way back in May of 2021.

He returned to the track at Ballarat first up when finishing fourth on a heavy track but he will be much better suited on top of the ground and he is two from two on a good track.

The Peter Moody trained horse can make it five from seven with a win in this race.

Elite Icon finished outside the placings for the first time in his short six race career on a heavy track last time out at Ballarat.

I’m willing to forgive that run as she simply didn’t handle the conditions and both her wins have been on a good track.
