Ladbrokes Park Sandown will host nine races on the Hillside this Saturday afternoon and we have offered our thoughts and betting plays here.
Our full 2023 Coronation Cup Day Preview can be read below.
Peter Moody has a couple of juveniles making their debuts in the opening race of the card at Sandown.
Gates is a son of Frankel who has not been seen at the trials or jump outs but there has been some early support in betting.
Victory Command is a son of Pierro who also is unseen and has been well backed.
Let’s have a little on both.

1/2 Unit Victory Command
Bay Thirteen kicked started this campaign by winning his maiden at Mornington over 1000m and has subsequently been placed in two black type races since.
She steps back in both distance and grade for this race and looks the obvious choice in a race that lacks a whole heap of depth.
2 Units Bay Thirteen
Our Heidi has been a consistent performer during her racing career placing in nine of 15 overall starts.
It was hard to not be impressed when she took out a Benchmark 64 at The Valley two back by over a length and she was beaten less than half a length last start.
She does get a lot of weight in this despite stepping up in class but the apprentice will give some weight relief.
1 Unit Our Heidi
Unflinching comes into this race off the back of three wins on the trot including a win in the Ladbrokes 55 Second Challenge final at The Valley.
The four year old son of I Am Invincible beat home Foxicon in that win who has since gone on to win twice in impressive fashion.
He has won six of his 10 career starts and all six of those wins have been at 1000m or less.
2 Units Unflinching
The owners must be happy with the lightly raced four year old mare Cap De Joie considering she has missed a placed only once during her short nine race career.
She won a Benchmark 70 at The Valley by 1.75 lengths two back and was beaten less than a length last time out at Geelong.
Confidence seems to be the key with this mare and she again looks well placed in a race of this quality.
2 Units Cap De joie
It’s been a bit of an unusual prep for the Mike Moroney trained Elkington Road with plenty of breaks in between runs.
He was beaten only half a length in the C.S Hayes first up back in February and then ran within 3.34 lengths of Legarto in the Group 1 Australian Guineas.
Fitness should not be a concern and his class should take him a long way in a race of this quality.
1 Unit E/W Elkington Road
The Peter Moody trained Daytona Bay is yet to win so far this prep but he is going better than his form on paper.
He has not been beaten far in each of his four starts and simply ran into one better on the Lakeside course last time out.
He’s had a month in between runs, drops to just 51kg with the apprentice claiming and should be ready to peak from a fitness point of view at this stage in his prep.
2 Units E/W Daytona Bay
Pinstriped was dominant when scoring by over three lengths in the Vobis Golden Mile two weeks ago.
Not only does he find an easier in this event but he drops down to 56.5kg with the apprentice jumping on top.
His current price of $3.00 looks incredibly juicy and I don’t think you’ll be getting that price on race day.
3 Units Pinstriped
Danaustar has been excellent in all four starts this prep which includes two wins.
He won impressively at Pakenham before stepping up to open grade at Flemington and finishing fifth.
Last start he showed a sharp turn of foot late in the piece to score by 1.25 lengths on the line on a heavy track at Terang.
