Two years on from a heartbreaking loss in Super Bowl LVII, the Philadelphia Eagles head to New Orleans with a chance at exacting some revenge on the Kansas City Chiefs.
Since that 38-35 loss in Arizona, the Eagles have ridden the rollercoaster with the team seemingly on the verge of combusting at any point over the last two years.
However, they have held it together, thanks in no small part to offseason signing Saquon Barkley who produced a historic season and has run the Eagles back into the big game.
But will it be enough against the NFL’s modern dynasty?
They have seen just how hard it is to knock off the Chiefs in the big game, but this side is far better equipped than two years ago to bring a second title back to the city of brotherly love.
Can they do it?
It remains to be seen but if they can, we’ve got our team preview and best Super Bowl bets for the NFC Champions.
Best Bets
This part would normally be making the case for why the Eagles can win and recommending something along those lines but we’ll get to that.
For the next few minutes this is going to turn into an unadulterated love-fest for Saquon Barkley, who has helped restore some relevance to the running back position with his efforts this season.
Sure, any back from Southern San Diego State College could run for 1000 yards behind this monster Eagles offensive line but you need to be someone special to put up 2000 under any circumstances.
Barkley did not slow down in the playoffs either, with 119 yards against Green Bay, 205 yards and two scores against LA and capping it off with 118 yards and three touchdowns against Washington.
Regardless of the result, he is going to see a lot of the ball and you can count on him to break at least one big play in this game.
When the Eagles went to New Orleans in September when he and his line were still getting in sync, he ran for 147 yards and two scores.
So for the best bet, let’s load up on the Eagles back have a good day at the office.
SGM: Saquon Barkley 100+ Rushing Yards & Anytime Touchdown @ $2.04
And for some extra value, well it just comes down to how many yards and touchdowns you think he can put up in this game.
For reference, the Chiefs were giving up yards to the Bills running game before Buffalo decided to abandon it.
But Barkley will lose those goalline carries when Philly goes for their patented tush push play, so he’ll have to score from range.
And with that in mind, here is a smorgasbord of Barkley bets.
Barkley 140+ Rushing Yards @ $3.05
Barkley 24+ Rushing Attempts @ $2.10
Barkley First Eagles Touchdown @ $2.40
Barkley 2+ Touchdowns @ $3.30
Team Performance
So how can the Eagles win the actual game?
There are some trends that work in their favour including the last time they played a team that beat them in a Super Bowl.
Admittedly it’s not an apples to apples comparison to Super Bowl LII where they beat New England 41-33 but at this point anything will do for the Eagles.
As it relates to the 2024 season though, the Eagles do have the versatility on offence and the aggressive nature to cause some problems for the Chiefs.
Their best bet to win is to challenge Patrick Mahomes and company to match them score for score up and down the field.
That points towards to key bets on the Eagles team performance, if they can get to 30 points they win so take the over in the team total and over in them to win the game.
Philadelphia to Win @ $2.05
Philadelphia Over 24.5 Points @ $1.98
Philadelphia Over 3.5 Touchdowns @ $3.25
Player Stat Bets
First and foremost the Eagles are a running team, which is how they are going to try and win this game.
They threw it with a lot of success two years ago but the Chiefs have beefed up their secondary and it’s tough to see Hurts going for 300+ yards
However they will have to throw it some and AJ Brown looks poised to catch a couple of passes after a relatively quiet postseason.
And once he does that, drawing coverage in the process, it’ll open up space for Dallas Goedert over the middle, who has been the Eagles most reliable option this postseason.
AJ Brown Over 70.5 Receiving Yards @ $1.88
Dallas Goedert Over 52.5 Receiving Yards @ $1.88
AJ Brown Longest Reception 30+ Yards @ $2.35
Touchdown Scorers
Outside of the easy Barkley selections, where else will the Eagles touchdowns come from?
In Super Bowl LVII, Jalen Hurts scored three rushing touchdowns and a two point conversion with his legs.
This season he has scored a touchdown in 12 of his starts and plunged over three times in the NFC Championship Game.
If the Eagles get the ball on the goalline, you know what the play call is and you know the Chiefs are going to have a hard time trying to stop it.
Jalen Hurts Anytime @ $1.90
Jalen Hurts 2+ Touchdowns @ $5.75
