UFC Fight Night: Cejudo vs Yadong Preview

The UFC heads to the north west corner of the United States this weekend to Seattle for a ripping card of quality fights.

Former double UFC champ and Olympic Gold Medalist Henry Cejudo will take on Song Yadong in the Bantamweight division as the Main Event as he looks to secure another title shot in the near future.

The co main event sees Brendan Allen taking on Anthony Hernandez at Middleweight and there are plenty more enticing matchups taking place.

We made a profit of over four units in our last two straight weeks and are looking to continue that trend below.

Henry Cejudo vs Song Yadong

Cejudo won the gold medal at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and if you need reminding of that feat, you only need to listen to him for five minutes before he mentions it.

After making his MMA debut in 2013, he then went on to claim UFC gold in both the Flyweight and Bantamweight divisions within five years.

He returned after three years away from the octagon to fight Aljamain Sterling for his Bantamweight title, a fight he lost via split decision.

A year later he lost a title eliminator fight against the now champion Merab Dvalishvili, also by decision.

Song Yadong made his professional MMA debut the same year as Cejudo back in 2013 but didn’t enter the UFC until 2017.

He has lost only four times in 14 UFC fights, the latest was a decision loss to Petr Yan in March 2024.

The Chinese stalwart has heavy hands for this division and despite having 31 pro fights he is just 27 years of age which may give him an advantage against the aging fighter that is Cejudo.

His last fight will go down as a loss against Yan but I thought he did enough to win the first two rounds and was unlucky not to get the decision go his way.

On the flip side, Cejudo was well beaten against Merab which prompted many to believe his career was coming to an extreme halt and that is why he comes in as the large underdog.

I don’t think there is as much between these two, which is why I have to have something on one of the best wrestlers the sport has ever seen.

Brendan Allen vs Anthony Hernandez

A seven fight win streak ended for Brenden Allen in September last year when he lost a decision against Nassourdine Imavov in Paris.

During that winning sequence he had wins over Andre Muniz, Paul Craight and Chris Curtis and five of those seven wins were by submission.

Anthony Hernandez earns a shot at one of the best in the division because of his own six fight win streak and all but one have been finishes.

Eight of his 13 career wins have been via submission which makes this a tantalising prospect for those that appreciate the art of grappling.

Unfortunately when two high level BJJ practitioners go head to head their skillset in this area cancel each other out and we see a striking battle.

We are up for that also!

2 Units Fight Not To Go The Distance

Rob Font vs Jean Matsumoto

Font made his pro MMA debut way back in 2011 and at 37 years of age he enters the octagon for the 30th time.

He has fought at the top of the UFC Bantamweight division for the best part of a decade and has gone to battle with former champions Jose Aldo, Cody Garbrandt and Deiveson Figueiredo.

His recent record will say that he has just two wins from his last six fights but they have been the best of the best that the division has to offer.

Brazilian Jean Matsumoto is unbeaten in all 16 of his pro MMA fights including his first two in the UFC last year.

13 of his 16 wins have been via finish including six by submission and he represents danger wherever this fight goes.
