Don’t just follow the crowd! Ladbrokes has unearthed a selection of high-value racing roughies at truly juicy odds, primed to deliver a massive payout this Saturday.
We were back on track last weekend with two of our three Saturday roughies finishing in the money.
We had Yellow Sam running third in Caulfield’s Group 3 Bletchingly Stakes, while in WA we tipped Royal Tropper at 30/1 at time of publish in the Belmont Classic, and he was terrific rounding out that trifecta!
This Saturday kicks off a brand-new racing season and we cannot wait for it.
Looking around we’ve got a couple of longshots early on the Eagle Farm card that could prove underrated, before heading south to Flemington for our Group 3 Aurie’s Star roughie tip at HQ.
Ladbrokes “Value Whisperer” Lucy Henderson is on a roll. Check out her best Saturday roughies below!
Eagle Farm Race 3 (1:18PM AEST) – $85,000 Happy Horses’ Birthday Handicap (1000m)
No. 3 Pareto ($7.50 at time of publish)

PARETO (8) resumes in the third at Eagle Farm on Saturday and is firming fast making now the right time to get the jump on David Mccolm’s Pierata gelding.
He’ll race for the first time as a 4YO in this looking to add to an improving record of two wins and a second from five starts.
A genuine short-distance specialist, he’s got a stellar strike rate so far over the 1000m (4:2-1-0) and is also a noted first-up flyer with two wins from three resuming starts on his record.
Didn’t fire last winter in Black-Type company here but was far better in the autumn including handling a Heavy (10) track with a hefty 62kg to win at Ballina.
From there he travelled to Randwick for a Highway-Class 3 and went down only a half-length with 57.5kg in a run full of merit.
Has been brought on fitness-wise with a winning Doomben trial, is the now 58kg topweight with some early withdrawals, but think he’ll carry those kilos okay.
Take Each Way for insurance as there’s plenty pointing to a big return now.
Eagle Farm Race 4 (1:53PM AEST) – $750,000 Sky Racing BM70 Handicap (1815m)
No. 9 Caracoron ($18 at time of publish)
CARACORON (10) looms as a huge-value danger for a top three run in the fourth in Brisbane this weekend.
I liked him when the field first came out at 26/1 but he’s into $18 at time of publish, which is still juicy enough!
Jordan Lee’s Kiwi-bred son of Mongolian Khan is a three-time winner from 13 starts and, while he does see both the track and trip for the first time, he caught the eye winning at Grafton over the mile in mid-July by 1.5 lengths.
He was well back and made up lots of ground adding merit to that victory against easier company.
A genuine middle-distance staying type, as the pedigree would indicate, he’s won up to 2110m so think the step-up now suits to a tee.
Fit third-up and has previously won at this stage of a preparation.
Needs to go to another level but looks on paper capable.
Flemington Race 7 (3:50pm AEST) – Group 3 $200,000 Aurie’s Star Handicap (1200m)
No. 9 Bossy Nic ($13 at time of publish)

BOSSY NIC (1) is a resuming runner in the season’s opening Group race in Melbourne, and on consistency alone I think this Tony & Calvin McEvoy trained Nicconi mare can make her presence felt.
She’s one of those that relishes the long Flemington straight with a great track record (7:2-2-1) where both of those wins were down the famous “Straight Six’.
At six-furlongs she’s a gem (15:4-3-2) and she’ll relish getting that first-up to kick off a potential big spring campaign.
Hasn’t won since mid-February, but placed in her next three runs the latest of which had her under a length off A Little Deep over 1100m on March 29 here.
Can handle the going and has genuine Each Way prospects!
In related news, we’ve also done up a Flemington Deep Dive going over the horses, trainers and jockeys to watch at HQ ahead of the spring; could Bossy Nic feature over the coming months?
Good luck punters!
