2026 Inglis Millennium Day Preview

The juveniles take centre stage at Royal Randwick on 2026 Inglis Millennium Day.

The Inglis Millennium has quickly become a key race in the landscape of the two-year-old season and has produced several subsequent Group 1 winners in recent years, and another exciting crop has accepted for the $2 million feature on Saturday.

You can find my complete Randwick best bets, including 2026 Inglis Millennium tips below.

Midway Handicap (1600m) – 12:30pm AEDT
No. 5 Kingston Charm

I think that the addition of James McDonald this week can see KINGSTON CHARM return to winning form.

Kingston Charm has continued to improve with racing since resuming and was only just denied in an almost identical race here a fortnight ago, hitting the line the flare of a nostril behind Promitto.

She will need some luck in the run from a wide alley, but she’s fit and might not be offered a better opportunity to win in town.

Randwick R1 – Midway Handicap (Bm72)
Final Race time:
8th
5. Kingston Charm (13)
J: James McDonald 57kg

Highway Handicap (1200m) – 1:05pm AEDT
No. 12 Autumn Break

AUTUMN BREAK puts an unbeaten record on the line resuming in this week’s Highway race.

Autumn Break hasn’t been seen at the races since November, but after winning on debut out at Wagga, he continued to rise through to grades with dominant victories back-to-back at Albury.

This is obviously the hardest task he’s been set, but he has trialled up nicely, clearly goes well fresh and does look up to this standard.

Randwick R2 – Tab Highway Handicap (C3)
Final Race time:

12. Autumn Break (5)

Listed Lonhro Plate (1000m) – 1:40pm AEDT
No. 5 Spicy Miss

There’s a case to be made for plenty of them in the Lonhro Plate field and without a whole lot of form to study, I think that SPICY MISS is deserved of her warm favouritism in the market.

She made only one appearance at the races during her first campaign, but Spicy Miss tried hard off a wide run to ultimately finish second in November’s Golden Gift, in what was a mature performance.

A recent trial adds further confidence and the 1000m looks a nice launchpad for her.

Toyota Forklifts Handicap (1600m) – 2:15pm AEDT
No. 9 Unleeshing

UNLEESHING takes winning form into another nice race on Inglis Millennium Day.

Unleeshing returned to action with a pair of competitive performances that saw her fill the minors in BM72 and BM78 company respectively, and she was rewarded for her improving condition with an utterly dominant victory back to the midweeks last time out.

She’s hard fit, will relish the mile and this is a great opportunity for her to get back into Saturday metro company with only 54kgs in tow.

Randwick R4 – Toyota Forklifts Handicap (Bm78)

Inglis Classic Yearling Sale Handicap (1200m) – 2:50pm AEDT
No. 3 Polyglot

POLYGLOT resumes in a winnable race at Randwick on Saturday.

The Godolphin gelding has undoubtedly continued to improve with each racing preparation and was a model of consistency in races not dissimilar to this one, last time in.

His two public trials leading up to Saturday’s resumption have been full of merit, and he’s another one whose winning chances have been substantially boosted by a good draw and James McDonald.

The Agency Real Estate Handicap (1300m) – 3:25pm AEDT
No. 8 Cinsault

We were with CINSAULT when she won here a fortnight ago and she looms as a key winning chance again on Saturday.

Cinsault has had three runs back since resuming in December, bookending a credible fourth behind the likes of Miss Spacegirl here early last month with a couple of eye-catching victories in metro company.

She’s another one that has come up with a potentially sticky draw (15) this week, but she’s got the runs on the board and with appropriate luck in the run, I’m confident she can go on with it.

Randwick R6 – The Agency Real Estate Handicap (Bm78)

Inglis Millennium (1100m) – 4pm AEDT
No. 7 Defensemen
Each Way

The Inglis Millennium is almost always an open affair and in its short existence, has launched the careers of horses like Castelvecchio, Bella Nipotina and Rivellino.

We’re faced with $6 the field again in 2026 Inglis Millennium betting (at publish), and one that I think has appeal at huge odds is DEFENSEMEN ($27 at publish).

Defensemen has made two competitive appearances at the races so far, placing in the Kirkham Plate on debut in October and going for a break after finishing midfield in the Golden Gift.

He’s had the benefit of a couple of trials ahead of his return and I was keen on his chances of a first three finish in last week’s Canonbury Stakes prior to his scratching, and I think he’ll be afforded every chance in this contest from barrier 4.

Group 3 Eskimo Prince Stakes (1200m) – 4:35pm AEDT
Same Race Multi

TEMPTED resumes in the Eskimo Prince Stakes and has opened a clear $1.75 favourite in betting.

She was unlucky not to record a maiden win at the highest level in 2025, winning four of nine starts, placing as many and finding form around some outstanding types.

A repeat of her latest run for second, beaten a length by Ka Ying Rising in an Everest would obviously be more than good enough to win this race.

I’m going to select her as my winner in a Same Race Multi and pump up my odds with WODETON running into the Top 3.

He too is unlucky not to have won in Group 1 company and importantly, he’s yet to finish worse than second at this point of his preparation.

Same Race Multi selections:

  • 5 Wodeton (Top 3)

Inglis Digital Feb Late Sale 19-24 Handicap (1600m) – 5:15pm AEDT
No. 12 Bear On The Loose

This is one of the more open races on the Inglis Millennium Day program and a horse like BEAR ON THE LOOSE can have a real impact, in my opinion.

We haven’t seen the six-year-old import in action since July last year but was a consistent performer and finished second in four of his last five starts, including his latest run behind subsequent Caulfield Cup/Melbourne Cup champion Half Yours in the Caloundra Cup.

He’s had the benefit of a couple of trials leading up to his return, he gets into the race well at the weights and we know he’s horse that will lob up on the speed and make his own luck.

Spelling At Coolmore Mt White Handicap (1000m) – 5:55pm AEDT
No. 3 The Black Cloud

THE BLACK CLOUD takes winning form into the last on Inglis Millennium Day.

The Black Cloud has proven to be a great horse for the Joe Pride yard since making her debut and is rarely far away.

She recorded some deserved black type in the Listed Bribie Handicap up in Brisbane in December and has since been freshened and sent back to the trials ahead of this appropriate point of resumption.
