Redcliffe Harness Preview – Friday 26th June

Redcliffe Harness Preview – Friday 26th June

Friday’s nine-race card at The Triangle is broken down by Redcliffe expert Oli Cownie.

Race 1

ART JESTER (1) has been racing very well in recent outings and put the best run he had put in for a long time last time out when leading and rating fast time over the 1660 at Albion Park. He should be able to lead again in this race and he should be very difficult to run down off his latest effort.

AT THE POINTY END (7) raced without luck last start at Marburg and was still able to run a good fourth behind Reds Star Deal. She should get the ideal run through behind Art Jester and gets every chance to run well.

JEFFCOATE (8) should secure a good run in the race 3 back on the pegs. He was a winner five starts ago when sitting leaders back and sprinting nicely to score. He raced without luck last start at Marburg.

QUIKCHANGE (6) was able to drive through and lead in the early stages last time out at Marburg and scored a dominant win there. This race looks tougher and he draws outside the front row. He can be running on late.

SELECTIONS: ART JESTER (1), AT THE POINTY END (7), JEFFCOATE (8), QUIKCHANGE (6)

SUGGESTED BET: ART JESTER (1) to win.

Race 2

WINDY HILL TARA (9) has been racing in good form in recent outings in strong company including last start when running an eye catching second to The Vicar Of Dibley. She appears to be stepping back in grade here and it looks a race which could generate a strong tempo.

FREE THINKER (5) wasn’t beaten far last start in the Redcliffe Cup Consolation after starting from a 10 metre handicap. He draws to advantage over his main rivals in this race and may look to hold that advantage in the early stages.

HOT AND TREACHEROUS (6) returns in this race and draws wide. He trialled impressively ahead of his return to racing rating fast time beating FFA mare Sheza Bonny Sheila. Its likely he will have benefited from that outing and should run well.

ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8) has been well beaten in recent outings but is racing much better than his numerical form would suggest. He was well beaten last start by Final Deadline who won the Redcliffe Cup his following start.

SELECTIONS: WINDY HILL TARA (9), FREE THINKER (5), HOT AND TREACHEROUS (6), ROCKS OR DIAMONDS (8)

SUGGESTED BET: WINDY HILL TARA (9) to win.

Race 3

REDS STAR DEAL (1) scored a good win last start at Marburg after starting from the back row. He has previously led and run well over this track and trip and appears likely to be able to lead in the early stages. He should be nearing peak fitness third up.

FAKISTRA (7) is having his first run for the stable of Amanda Turnbull and draws to get a great run through in the early stages. He got back in the run last start and hit the line strongly to get into third behind Rocksngems.

SPLASH OF PAYNT (2) has very good early speed but does draw outside of a horse with gate speed. He led last start and was well beaten there in a race taken out by Scruffy. He may be better suited getting a more economical run early.

PUNTERS JEWEL (5) has impressed this campaign running a number of good races in fast time. He put in a big effort two starts ago when running into third behind Windy Hill Wally in a race the winner rated fast time.

SELECTIONS: REDS STAR DEAL (1), FAKISTRA (7), SPLASH OF PAYNT (2), PUNTERS JEWEL (5)

SUGGESTED BET: REDS STAR DEAL (1) to win.

Redcliffe R3 – Garrards Horse & Hound Pace
Open Race time:
1. Reds Star Deal (1)
J: Greg Bennett
85×71T: Phil Mitchell

Race 4

MISS FROUFROU (1) worked hard outside the leader last start and battled on strongly for third behind Judah Red. She should have the speed to drive through and lead in the early stages and should be hard to run down.

RIBEIRO (7) seems best suited at this stage in his career when not used in the early stages. He should get a good run through behind the likely leader and looks a good opportunity to bounce back.

AURORA JOY (9) ran well last start when beaten by Cool And Classy who rated track record time when winning at Redcliffe. This looks a huge step back in grade and she looks to get a run that should suit her doing no early work.

THE RIZZLER (8) should get a good run in the race 3 back on the pegs and looks to have strong place claims. He drew poorly last start in a race taken out by Judah Red.

SELECTIONS: MISS FROUFROU (1), RIBEIRO (7), AURORA JOY (9), THE RIZZLER (8)

SUGGESTED BET: MISS FROUFROU (1) to win.

Redcliffe R4 – Wolf Signs Pace

Race 5

FIFTY THREE STARS (5) put in a super run last start when running on strongly into a close up third behind Keayang Moscato. He has previously shown he can run well when forced to do the work in his races and should have no issues with the wide draw.

THE HARRIS HAWK (1) led three starts ago at this track and trip and rolled along solid sectionals before getting a touch tired late when not beaten far by Take Out. If he can lead and control things he could run well.

PRINCE JOY (10) has been racing well including a good last start second after doing the work outside of Dusty Muster who has been in excellent form. He draws outside the back row but can be driven to the speed of the race and should run well again.

GIDUP CAPTAIN (7) should get a good run through behind the potential early leader. He got a good run two starts ago behind the leader and was able to sprint best late to score.

SELECTIONS: FIFTY THREE STARS (5), THE HARRIS HAWK (1), PRINCE JOY (10), GIDUP CAPTAIN (7)

SUGGESTED BET: FIFTY THREE STARS (5) to win.

Race 6

SHADYS DELIGHT (9) has been building towards another win with two good third placings in his last two starts. His latest placing came when securing the 1-1 at Albion Park before finishing third behind Courageous Leo.

JILLIBY PANDA (4) was luckless two starts ago when handing up the lead before being dragged out of the race by a tiring runner. He has a front row draw this time and should be suited in this company.

EBONY BELLE (3) has excellent gate speed but does draw outside of a horse with very good gate speed and may struggle to get across in the early stages. She raced without luck last start when badly held up at a crucial stage at Marburg.

VERMONT (1) was left without cover in her latest outing when well beaten at Redcliffe. She draws best in this race and comes in fresh having not started for close to a month. She can look to bounce back.

SELECTIONS: SHADYS DELIGHT (9), JILLIBY PANDA (4), EBONY BELLE (3), VERMONT (1)

SUGGESTED BET: SHADYS DELIGHT (9) to win.

Race 7

TELLMEABOUTIT (2) is building this preparation each run and comes into this race fourth up from a spell. He ran up behind them last start and appeared to run through the line nicely last start. He has good gate speed and may elect to lead.

LOWER WEST SIDE (5) sat without cover last start in a restricted win race and was able to prove too good for Our Angels Envy. He may need to do the work again and should be hard to beat.

MACKLEMORE CHEX (1) put in a poor run last start when sitting outside the leader and seemingly controlling things nicely before fading right out of it late. He is a very capable horse at his best and is likely to have derived benefit from his recent outings. He should secure a good run and can be dangerous late.

BAM BAM BROOK (3) was left doing the work outside the leader last start and faded out of it late behind Mister Freeman. He should secure a more economical run this time.

SELECTIONS: TELLMEABOUTIT (2), LOWER WEST SIDE (5), MACKLEMORE CHEX (1), BAM BAM BROOK (3)

SUGGESTED BET: TELLMEABOUTIT (2)

Race 8

MAJOR ARK (9) drew poorly last start and was held up at a crucial stage before flashing into third. He draws to make his own luck this time and should be well suited if there’s a genuine early tempo.

VICTREE BUSTA (2) led last start and finished fourth behind Little Whippet when getting tired late. He is likely to appreciate the step back to 1780 in this race and can lead again.

BLACK GEMSTONE (5) ran a good race last start to get into third after getting a long way back in the run. She looks likely to be shuffled back again in this race and if the tempo is on she should be running on well.

KINGSBURY (7) led last start at Marburg and rolled along rating good time when beaten by The Luvbug. He draws awkwardly this time and will need luck at the right time.

SELECTIONS: MAJOR ARK (9), VICTREE BUSTA (2), BLACK GEMSTONE (5), KINGSBURY (7)

SUGGESTED BET: MAJOR ARK (9) to win.

Race 9

LOSTANDFOUND (4) has good gate speed and draws to advantage over his key rivals in this race. He ran a good second last start after finding the leaders back early and running through the line well late behind Schooners who was able to take out the feature race at Marburg on Sunday.

MY ULTIMATE ZANDER (6) drew poorly last start and got back in the run before hitting the line well behind Surreal Moran. He is likely to be shuffled back again in this race from a wide draw and should run on well.

IAM HUGO (7) was shuffled back early last start and was running through the line late in a race that wasn’t run to suit. He should settle a touch closer this time and can be running on again.

BOSTON CHIEF (5) was seemingly out of his comfort zone last start when sitting without cover before fading out of it late. He may be driven more quietly early and should be running into it well late.

SELECTIONS: LOSTANDFOUND (4), MY ULTIMATE ZANDER (6), IAM HUGO (7), BOSTON CHIEF (5)

SUGGESTED BET: LOSTANDFOUND (4) to win.
