Daily Racing Tips – Thursday 30th July

You can find our Thursday racing tips for July 30th below, including Bendigo best bets and Illawarra Grange tips!

Bendigo: Race 6
No. 11 Point Moon
Each Way

In what looks to be one of, if not the most open race on today’s Bendigo program, POINT MOON is one that I thought represented value in the market ($11 at publish).

We haven’t seen Point Moon at the races since March, but after resuming to win comfortably out at Sale in February, she was last seen finishing just over two and a half lengths behind the winner in metro company.

She’s had the benefit of a couple of trials ahead of today’s assignment and she’s drawn to receive a dream run under Damien Thornton.

Open Race time:
11. Point Moon (4)
J: Damien Thornton 57.5kg
7x17xT: Clayton Douglas
Has won previously first-up and resumes here after a break of five months. Finished off last preparation seventh of 10 at Caulfield Heath Bm62 March 4 over 1000m, 2.75 len behind Commands Success with 57.5kg at $18. Previous preparation first-up won by 1.75 len Sale Mdn-Sw February 1 over 1000m defeating Buvelot carrying 57kg at $2.35. Sets up well and should take some beating.

Bendigo: Race 7
No. 3 Crypt

CRYPT takes winning form into another nice race at Bendigo today.

The Danny O’Brien-trained gelding was only denied by an eye-catching Tan Tat Art at his first run back from a break and enjoyed good improved into a smart victory in maiden company last time out.

This is a rise in class, but he’s got plenty of upside and can go on with it.

J: Damien Thornton 59kg

Third-up today. First-up 2nd of 14 at Sale Mdn-Sw on June 28 over 1005m, on rain affected going; 1.5 len behind Tan Tat Art carrying 59.5kg at $8. Second-up was well back until straightening; raced back then made ground from the turn; won by a nose at Geelong Mdn-Sw July 10 over 1243m on a heavy track defeating French Accord with 59.5kg at $4.40. Profiles nicely. Should get a nice run and measure up again.

Illawarra Grange: Race 7
No. 4 Heuristic

HEURISTIC is fit and ready to strike on the Illawarra Grange track this afternoon.

Though he is yet to strike in three runs back this time, the Street Boss gelding has improved noticeably with each, and his first run for the Mitch Beer & George Carpenter stable earlier this month was unlucky not to return a victory.

In peak order today, he looks perfectly placed to go one better.

Illawarra Grange R7 – Lexy Get Well Provincial Hcp (Bm68)
Open Race time:
4. Heuristic (7)
J: Siena Grima 59kg
3×582T: Mitchell Beer & George Carpenter
Most recently came from midfield; 2nd of 10 at Kembla Grange Prov Bm68 on July 16 over 1200m, 1.0 len behind Let’s Go Again with 57kg at $4.40. The race before that ran last of 8 at Kembla Grange Bm64 on June 2 over 1300m, on heavy track; 45 len behind Presides with 61kg at $3.90. Doesn’t have to improve much to win this.

Illawarra Grange: Race 8
No. 3 Three Arrows

THREE ARROWS is another one that steps out today a fit horse and as a key winning chance.

The Hello Youmzain gelding was excellent during his debut prep last year, and while he’s yet to return to winning form in four runs back this time, he’s clearly been on the improve.

Zac Lloyd takes the ride and with appropriate luck in the run, I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.

Illawarra Grange R8 – Colourite Painting Hcp (Bm64)

The start before that 7th of 12 at Warwick Farm Cg&E Bm72 on June 24 over 1300m, 1.5 len behind High Blue Sea carrying 57.5kg at $9. Key jockey change and ready to run a big race.
