Read on for our Sunday Racing Tips on August 23rd, featuring Goulburn Best Bets and 2026 Goulburn Cup Tips!
Silver Tempest boasts the highest rating and brings solid recent form, while Guy’s Last Prize looks the interesting improver after consecutive wins.
The Arrow has been knocking on the door with three placings from his last four and gets an ideal draw in barrier one, while Sunday is another coming off a pair of runner-up finishes.
In something of this quality, I think that Silver Tempest will be hard to beat.

| At the latest run 8th of 10 in a Bm64 at Wyong on August 2 over 1630m, 6 len behind Johnny Smash carrying 59kg at $26. The start before that ran on from midfield; 2nd of 7 in a Bm64 at Hawkesbury on July 19 over 1500m, on a slow track; nose behind Flying From Above with 58.5kg at $12. Worth another chance in this easier contest. | |||
Monte Maximus sets the standard with a good rate and gets a useful 2kg claim, while Stupendo also brings a strong rating and has drawn well in barrier four.
Spread The Love is an interesting runner resuming after winning three of his last four starts before the break, with One Run Won another who can improve off a solid recent placing.
Jazz All Knight is also worth respecting with a sizeable claim bringing her down to just 54kg, but I’ve got the toppie on top.

| Most recently came home strongly from last on the turn; 4th of 9 in a Prov Bm64 at Kembla Grange on August 15 over 1200m, 1.5 len behind Me Me with 57kg at $16. Before that 9th of 13 in a Prov Bm68 at Illawarra Grange on July 30 over 1200m, 5.5 len behind Heuristic with 55.5kg at $12. Holding form and maps well with the claim. | |||
This is an open edition of the Goulburn Cup, and I’ve ultimately landed on one at huge odds – Travolta ($34 at publish).
We haven’t seen him at the races since May, but he was a consistent performer in featured company last time in, while he is a multiple winner at this point of his preparation.
Having had the benefit of a couple of trials, Lee Magorrian rides from a low draw and the horse is certainly up to the class of the race.
| 2. Travolta (2) J: Lee Magorrian 61.5kg 4434xT: Chris Waller | |||
| Resuming. Finished off last campaign fourth of 14 at Wagga in the LR Wagga Cup May 1 over 2000m, 2 len behind Bianco Vilano carrying 58kg at $3.40. Previously first up; fourth of 15 at Randwick Gardenia February 7 over 1600m, 3.5 len behind Sun God with 59kg at $11. Will take great benefit from this run. | |||
Overshadow takes winning form into the last on Goulburn Cup Day following an eye-catching second up performance on the Illawarra Grange and looks open to further improvement today.
Galactic Force brings the strongest recent form, including a win and two placings from his last four, although the wide barrier is a slight concern.
Brucey is another to consider after winning at his latest start, while Kool Kade comes in off consecutive placings and draws to get a soft run from barrier 12.
| 3. Overshadow (8) J: Dylan Gibbons 58.5kg 37×71T: M, W & J Hawkes | |||
| Third-up today. Resuming 7th of 12 in a Super Mdn-Sw at Hawkesbury on July 2 over 1300m, on a slow track; 5.5 len behind Viva Mauricio with 57kg at $6. Second run from a spell won by 1.0 len at Illawarra Grange on July 30 over 1450m defeating Creator Of World with 57kg at $4.20. Sure to measure up here. | |||
