The Vanity Tips
The Vanity tips include backing the past Group performing fillies, looking for those with a strong Flemington record and watching for past elite level winners in the mix.
Another good The Vanity betting tip is to back the fillies drawn single-digit barriers with the only winner having jumped from wider than gate nine since Forest Express (barrier 11 in 2000) being Grinzinger Belle (barrier 12 in 2024).
2025 The Vanity Tips
Our expert The Vanity 2025 tips will be available below the week of the race so stay tuned.
To Win: No. 4 Sheza Alibi
SHEZA ALIBI (3) is firming in The Vanity markets and rightly so; the second-up specialist is ticking all the right boxes. The Saxon Warrior filly has never missed the placings in five career starts, and her 3YO debut was full of promise. Taking on the boys in the Listed Gothic Stakes, she ran a bold third behind Tentyris, who now lines up in the Group 1 Coolmore Stud Stakes with genuine claims — a strong form line that adds weight to her chances here.
Now under the care of Moody & Coleman, the former Queenslander made an immediate impact for her new stable and looks to have plenty of upside. She’s unbeaten second-up (2:2-0-0), and stepping up to 1400m should suit her perfectly. Barrier three gives her every chance to settle and strike, and with natural improvement on her side, she’s well placed to make it three wins from six starts. A rising filly with the right setup — expect her to be right in the finish.

The Group 3 The Vanity is a 1400m race run at set weights plus penalties for three-year-old fillies. It was previously contested each February during the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival before being moved in 2024 to join the Victoria Derby Day line-up on the opening day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival in the spring.
The Vanity offers $240,000 in prize money and now runs alongside the likes of the Victoria Derby, Coolmore Stud Stakes, and Empire Rose Stakes at Flemington on the Saturday prior to the Melbourne Cup race which takes place on the first Tuesday of November.
Inaugurated in 1986, the event previously served as a potential lead-up for fillies looking to take on the boys next-up in the Group 1 Australian Guineas (1600m) also run and Flemington Racecourse before changing seasons in 2024.
Shamrocker (4th in 2011) and Mosheen (2nd in 2012) are the most last Australian Guineas winning fillies to come off a lead-up run in The Vanity.
In 2024 the autumn edition of The Vanity was won by Grinzinger Belle.
In 2024 the spring edition of The Vanity was won by Zeitung.
