The Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes on March 29 at Rosehill and April’s ATC Oaks are calling for Matt Laurie’s exciting VRC Oaks champion Treasurethe Moment ($1.50F) who easily accounted for her rivals second-up to make it six straight wins with a 2.25 length demolition job in the 2025 Kewney Stakes results on All-Star Mile Day.

The A.V. Kewney Stakes is a Group 2 race run at Flemington Racecourse on Newmarket Handicap each March during the Melbourne Autumn Racing Carnival.

Run over 1400m the set weights feature is open only to three-year-old fillies and offers $300,000 in prize money including $120,000 to the Kewney Stakes winner and connections.
It is held at the same meeting as the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap (1200m) and the recently upgraded Group 1 The All-Star Mile (1600m).
The Kewney Stakes makes a nice lead-up to later autumn features in Sydney including the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) in April. Faint Perfume (2010) was the last filly to complete the Kewney Stakes – Vinery Stud Stakes double.
It can also serve as a lead-up to Randwick’s Group 1 Australian Oaks (2400m) during The Championships with Autumn Angel (2024) the last filly to complete the Kewney Stakes – ATC Oaks double.

The Kewney Stakes race field attracts a field of classy middle-distance performing fillies.
Many three-year-olds in the line-up come out of an earlier Flemington run in the Group 3 The Vanity (1400m) and the double was last achieved by Solicit (2014) who continued on to run second in the Group 1 Vinery Stud Stakes (2000m) at Rosehill next start followed by Barb Raider (2022).
In 2015, Wawail also improved off a third in The Vanity to win the Group 2.
Another telling lead-up into the Kewney Stakes is the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield on Blue Diamond Stakes Day and the last filly to take out that race and the Flemington follow-up was Zarita (2008).
Treasurethe Moment (2025) was the last filly to complete the Angus Armanasco Stakes – Kewney Stakes double.
Graduates out of the Kewney Stakes field may back-up in the Group 2 Sunline Stakes (1600m) over the Moonee Valley mile on William Reid Stakes night and I Am A Star (2017) was the last to do the double.
Another potential easier next-up option for fillies out of the Kewney Stakes is a trip to Sydney for the Group 3 PJ Bell Stakes (1200m) and Rubisaki (2020) was the last to do the double.
