The other majors on the card are the Group 1 Caulfield Might And Power Stakes (2000m) and the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m). Along with the three elite levels there are also two Group 2 support acts with the Schillaci Stakes (1100m) for sprinters and the Herbert Power Stakes run over the mile and a half (2400m).

Offering a $200,000 in total prize money, the Northwood Plume Stakes is another top Caulfield Guineas Day race and is run at set weights plus penalties over 1200m.

One of the newer events run during the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival, the Northwood Plume Stakes was inaugurated in 2005 and serves as a nice lead-up into the Group 2 Tristarc Stakes (1400m) on Caulfield Cup Day.

The event is named in honour of the 1994 Thousand Guineas – VRC Oaks double winning filly Northwood Plume.

The latest edition of the Northwood Plume Stakes runs on Saturday October 14, 2023 as part of Caulfield Guineas Day 2023 and was won in a stylish upset by four-year-old She Dances ($8.50) from the Moody/Coleman stable.
