2017 Boxing Day Preview

All sports fans know that the real Christmas is on Boxing Day and we are set for an absolute feast of sporting action!

The Boxing Day Test and Sydney To Hobart are always the highlights, but there is also a big day of racing at Caulfield, a Big Bash Blockbuster between the Scorchers and the Heat as well as a host of massive games in the NBA.

We have analysed all the big events and our tips can be found below!

Summer Cup Day At Royal Randwick

The Summer Cup is the feature at Royal Randwick on Boxing Day and it is set to be a very interesting betting affair.

You can make a case for a number of the horses in this field, but it is Montauk that does represent serious value at his current price.

He is not the most consistent horse in the world, but he is capable of a high-rating performance on his day and the fact that he has had a barrier trial between starts is a positive.

Ladbrokes Christmas Stakes Day At Caulfield

The Ladbrokes Christmas Stakes is one of two feature races at Caulfield on Boxing Day and Oak Door is the horse to beat.

He won first-up during his short Spring campaign and he took out the Autumn Stakes at Caulfield earlier this year.

Patrick Moloney will settle him right on the speed in the early stages of this race and if he brings his best form he has this field covered. The $5 currently available is excellent value.

Boxing Day Test

Australia have dominated The Ashes to date and a cleansweep is now a highly likely outcome.

England have simply had no answers for Steve Smith and it is tough to not see the Aussie captain go big again on what looks set to be a fairly flat MCG pitch.

England are a team that have lost all confidence and Australia may be short-priced favourites, but they still offer genuine value.

Sydney To Hobart

The 2017 Sydney To Hobart is a interesting betting race, but 2015 winner LDV Comanche is still the boat to beat.

The fact that Wild Oats XI has had a disrupted preparation for the race after being struck by lightning is a big positive for LDV Comanche and no boat in this fleet is capable of thriving in such a wide range of conditions.

Anything even money or better for a LDV Comanche victory is excellent value.
