Peter Moody’s Ladbrokes Cox Plate Tips
Who will win the 2020 Ladbrokes Cox Plate?
Champion trainer Peter Moody has analysed the field and his complete 2020 Cox Plate tips are now available.
Winner – Russian Camelot
I am sticking with Russian Camelot in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate and he is now out to a very backable price.
Two starts ago, after his win in the Underwood Stakes, we were ready to label him the next weight-for-age superstar and if he had won the Caulfield Stakes he could very well be an odds-on favourite.
There was nothing wrong with his effort in the Caulfield Stakes.
Arcadia Queen is an excellent mare in her own right and she had the race run to suit.
I am confident that a high-pressure race like the Cox Plate will play into the hands of Russian Camelot and the wettish track expected at Moonee Valley on Saturday is another positive on him.
The wide barrier draw could actually prove to be an advantage and he has the best in the business, in the form of Damien Oliver, in the saddle.
2nd – Arcadia Queen
Arcadia Queen has shown just how good she is this preparation and I love the way she found the line in the Caulfield Stakes.
After her win in the 2018 Kingston Town Stakes we were ready to label her the next Winx and it is great that she has been able to return to her best form.
The only query on her is a potential wet track.
3rd – Probabeel
I’ve always been a big fan of Probabeel and I think that she can measure up at this level.
She has a similar profile to Winx before she won her first Cox Plate and it is no surprise that she has been strongly supported in early betting.
4th – Humidor
The locals have a very strong hand in this year’s Ladbrokes Cox Plate and I am happy to be against the internationals in this field.
There is a fair amount of hype around Armory, but I’m not sure that there is much substance to his form.
Humidor loves The Valley and he has run extremely well in the Ladbrokes Cox Plate in the past.
There is no reason that he can’t be in the mix again at a nice price.
