2022 Aquis Raceday Preview

2022 Aquis Raceday Preview

Feature racing in Queensland heads to the Gold Coast Turf club this Saturday afternoon with nine quality races on the card.

Our full 2022 Aquis Raceday Preview can be found below.

3YO Handicap (1200m) - Race 1 12:08pm

Frosty Mango is a talented young filly out of the Tony Gollan stable who is yet to finish outside of the top two in four career race starts.

She was narrowly denied first up at Doomben and he will appreciate the step up to 1200m now.

Hopefully she starts our day on a winning note.

Magic Millions Country Cup (1200m) - Race 2 12:43pm

Star Of O’Reilly missed the kick by two lengths in Townsville but rocketed home to be beaten half a length on the line.

He will drop 4kg for that effort as the beaten favourite and he has drawn perfectly in barrier four.

Aquis Gold Nugget (1100m) - Race 3 1:18pm

Annabel Neasham saddled up Narnia for the first time at Randwick on Boxing Day and despite being well beaten I was impressed by the way he found the line.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the Not A Single Doubt colt takes a sharp step forward at his second run especially with the blinkers being added for the first time.

Aquis Gold Pearl (1100m) - Race 4 1:53pm

Perfect Mission bolted in at this track and distance on Boxing Day as the short priced favourite and while this is a tougher task, she is the one to beat.

On exposed form she has a class edge on the majority of these young fillies and she also comes into this assignment with a fitness edge as well.

Class 4 Plate (1300m) - Race 5 2:32pm

Fall On A Star started this campaign with a narrow defeat at this track before scoring by two lengths at Ipswich last time out.

The daughter of Zoustar is racing consistently and she looks really well placed in this particular event.

Barrier two and Ryan Moloney are both positives.

Class 4 Plate (1300m) - Race 6 3:12pm

After a sling of second placings throughout the first part of his career, Head Legislator put together two impressive wins to close out his last campaign.

He returned with a really nice effort first up at Wyong where he was beaten less than a length and will take plenty of improvement out of that race.

The step up in distance will suit and he will take some beating.

The Wave (1800m) - Race 7 3:52pm

Starelle has just the one win from 16 career starts but she has been racing consistently at black type level throughout this prep.

She has been placed in four consecutive races leading into this including a close third at Group 3 level over 1800m at Caulfield two back.

This looks an easier task then her last few and she represents good value.

Open Handicap (900m) - Race 8 4:32pm

The Tony Gollan trained The Move is a horse with a tonne of natural speed and a fair amount of upside.

The lightly raced five year old gelding has won six times from 15 career race starts and is well suited over the short course here at the Gold Coast in my opinion.

He gets in well at the weights with just 54kg and represents good value.

Benchmark 85 Handicap (1400m) - Race 9 5:12pm

Glitter Strip was truckloaded in betting late in the piece at Doomben two weeks ago but was given absolutely no hope by Georgina Cartwright during the run.

She savaged the line late in the race and she will be ready to peak at her third run this prep.

Ben Thompson has gained the ride and I’m confident we can finish the day on a winning note.
