2022 Big Dance Day Preview

2022 Big Dance Day Preview

It may be Melbourne Cup Day at Flemington but there is a fantastic card of racing taking place at Royal Randwick on Tuesday.

Our full 2022 Big Dance Day Preview can be read below.

Benchmark 72 Handicap (1800m) - Race 1 11:45am AEDT

Three year old gelding Acceber has been racing well this prep without winning and he was beaten less than two lengths in an open class 3YO race last time out.

He shows sign that a step up in distance will be of benefit and in a fairly low quality Midway race, he is every chance at scoring a much deserved win.

Highway Handicap (1000m) - Race 2 12:25pm AEDT

These Highway races are often won by a progressive type of horse with plenty of upside.

Lightly raced Miss Kirribilli fits this profile well having finished inside the top two in all four of her career starts.

He recent trial was good and she’s drawn the inside barrier.

Benchmark 84 Handicap (1000m) - Race 3 1:05pm AEDT

The Bopper is an open class performed horse who looks really well placed in this Benchmark 84 handicap.

He has a good first up record and he looked great in his most recent rial win leading into this race.

Soami is a horse that appeals at a big price and he too look great in a recent trial win at Warwick Farm.

He’s won twice first up in the past and is a worth a small each way play.

Benchmark 64 Handicap (1300m) - Race 4 1:40pm AEDT

Saturn Star was impressive when winning on debut at Rosehill over 1200m four weeks ago.

The son of Zoustar has had a trial in between runs in which he won and he’s drawn well in barrier five.

He’s the horse to beat.

Big Dance (1600m) - Race 5 2:20pm AEDT

Over a million dollars is up for grabs for the winner of The Big Dance and we have a big field assembled for the feature race.

Surf Dancer was excellent when winning the Group 2 Shannon Stakes first up on a good track before finishing well down the track behind Cascadian last start.

I’m willing to forgive that effort as the field was strung out before the home turn and he’s drawn well in barrier five for this.

Little Dance (1600m) - Race 6 3:30pm AEDT

It has been while in between wins for Two Big Fari but the seven year old gelding has been placed in his last three.

This includes a third in the Big Dance Wild Card race two weeks ago at Randwick and he will be required to carry just 52kg in this event.

Choisir Handicap (1100m) - Race 7 4:10pm AEDT

Dragonstone closed out his last campaign with a 1.78 length win at this track and distance and the four year old has placed in 11 of his 13 overall career starts.

His first up effort in the Group 2 Caulfield Sprint behind the very smart Asfoora was sound and he will appreciate the step up to 1100m in this contest.

Drawn well in barrier five.

Furphy Handicap (1300m) - Race 8 4:50pm AEDT

Far Too Easy was a dominant 3.3 length winner at the Gold Coast in the lead up to The Kosciuszko where he finished second.

He was beaten less than a length in that race behind Front Page and although this is his first start at 1300m, I’m not concerned.

Six wins from 12 career starts proves he is a winner and he’ll be tough to beat again.

Benchmark 88 Handicap (1500m) - Race 9 5:30pm AEDT

Zoushack has been racing very consistently for some time now and he broke through for a deserved win last start wat Warwick Farm.

Previous to that, he was beaten under two lengths in a benchmark 94 handicap and although this is his first start at 1500m, he is again a winning chance.

Benchmark 84 Handicap (1200m) - Race 10 6:05pm AEDT

Crystal Breeze has come up a big price in the last race of the day here at Randwick.

The six year old has proven himself in open class racing during his career and this looks a much easier task then those.

His first up record isn’t fantastic but he has been impressive winning both his trials in the lead up to this fresh run.
