Eight races will be run and won on the Sandown Lakeside this Wednesday.
The track is currently rated a good 4 and the rail will be out 3m for the entire circuit.
We’ve had a close look at all events on the card and our thoughts can be found below.
Rock Them Jools has just the one race start and it was a very encouraging debut performance from the son of Fastnet Rock.
Over the 1212m at Geelong he settled back in the second half of the field and when brought to the outside at the top the straight, let down strongly to finish in the photo for the placings.
He’ll be better for the experience and the rise to 1400m looks ideal.
1 unit – ROCK THEM JOOLS
Sirena has been the runner up in two of her three outings and looks to have plenty of upside.
Sent to the paddock after a strong debut, she returned with terrific effort at Mornington behind Tonkin, who has since won again in impression fashion.
Off that run she was well supported last start over 1200m but just failed to let down as expected over the final part.
It was still a solid effort so I’m happy to stick with her and the low draw should see her afforded every chance under Jye McNeil.
2 units – SIRENA
Fearless Writer just looked in need of the run when resuming over 1200m down the Flemington straight and she will have taken plenty of improvement from it.
A daughter of Written Tycoon, she has performed well in stronger grade, against quality opposition and she’s sure to find this easier.
She’s yet to miss the frame in three second up appearances, the rise in trip will certainly suit and the 3kg claim for Tianni Chapman sees her in nicely at the weights.
1 unit E/W – FEARLESS WRITER
Scottie’s Legacy has performed well in all five starts and looks to have a bright future.
The former Kiwi made her debut in her homeland before crossing the ditch and she’s quickly put together a very tidy record with two wins and two second placings on Australian soil.
She proved far too good over the mile at Kilmore and she was then solid to the line at her first go at 2000m.
Whilst her latest win wasn’t by a big margin, she just looked to switch off once she hit the front and for that, the visors go on here, replacing the blinkers.
An improving type, she looks well suited out to 2400m and gets the services of Blake Shinn.
1 unit – SCOTTIE’S LEGACY
Pop Award comes off a dominant first up win and looks set for bigger and better things.
A daughter of Shamus Award, the mare put the writing on the wall in her first campaign, where she was terrific over 1100m to finish third after a luckless debut run.
She then stepped out to 1200m and after sitting three wide and exposed throughout, stuck on gamely to finish a close second.
Sent to the paddock, she’s come back in top order and the form around is proving to be solid.
Blake Shinn stays in the saddle and with natural improvement, she looks the one to beat.
2 units – POP AWARD
Enna’s Dream has been racing well and looks nicely placed here.
She was doing her best work late over 1200m at Cranbourne two runs back and last start, over that same trip at headquartes, she settled on speed and stuck on gamely for fifth.
The daughter of Winning Rupert has proven herself a very handy galloper on her day and the form around her is solid.
She drops back in grade and holds a very tidy record over the 1400m.
1 unit – ENNA’S DREAM
Enxuto has been racing well and comes off a very pleasing last start effort over the mile at Flemington.
Settling back off the wide gate, he came the widest into the straight and let down strongly to finish fifth, beaten just two lengths.
The Robbie Griffiths trained gelding has only won the two from sixteen and but he’s never far away and looks to be improving.
He meets a similar field to last start and draws to receive a cosy run in transit under Blake Shinn.
1 unit – ENXUTO
Prinzerro returns to the races. The Pierro gelding was racing well last campaign, placing in his first three runs back including the Listed Cresswick Stakes.
The four year old has always shown good ability and has continued to race well against quality opposition.
He races well fresh and lines up here off two very pleasing Pakenham jump outs.
Jett Stanley jumps aboard, he’ll take 2kgs off and with luck off the wide gate, he should be right in this.
