How Now Stakes Tips & Predictions 2026: Best Bets

We have How Now Stakes tips and predictions for the Group 3 1200m race at Caulfield on Saturday.

How Now Stakes odds have generous prices for a few runners in the field, and we’re looking to lap up the value.

Best Bet
#4 Custom @ $6.00

Ciaron Maher lines up Custom, who has yet to do anything wrong this preparation with two wins and two placings.

She showed her class with a win at Caulfield last start when beating Photograph and Salty Pearl. The Salty Pearl form hasn’t quite been as good as we expected, but Custom had the clear advantage when winning.

The 4YO mare is starting to put everything together this campaign, and we expected her odds to be shorter than $7. We expected something around $5 for an in-form mare, and we can’t see her producing a bad performance.

Ethan Brown is riding confidently, having posted 10 wins from his last 50 starts, and he’s a good addition to How Now Stakes predictions at the current odds.

#3 Point Barrow @ $4.50

Seeing a duck egg next to Point Barrow’s form line doesn’t feel right, and she should rebound with a top effort on Saturday.

Not much went her way at Sandown behind My Gladiola, and that wasn’t the race for her. She will be much better at Caulfield on Saturday, and despite drawing barrier 11, she will settle towards the tail of the field before unleashing a big sprint.

If they go quickly up front, that will suit her perfectly. There appears to be plenty of speed in this race, so she’ll sit out the back, smoke her pipe, and wait for the right time to finish over the top of them. She is a Group 1 type, and the $5 odds are better than what punters typically get with her.

Second run back. First-up after four months 11th of 13 in the G1 Moir Stakes at Sandown-Hillside on September 5 over 1000m, slow going 5 len behind My Gladiola carrying 56.5kg at $16. Previously second-up won by 1.0 len in the G3 Don Casboult Classic (Typhoon Tracy Stakes) at this track on March 21 over 1200m defeating Torsheen with 58.5kg at $2.80. Couldn’t get warm fresh, suited this trip and will be charging late.

#12 Photograph @ $10.00

Our How Now Stakes tips include Photograph at double-figure odds. She battled well to finish second behind Custom last start, and we have that as one of the best form guides for the How Now Stakes.

The Lindsay Park-trained 5YO is only a three-race winner, but she is threatening to post a win after consecutive second placings, and her form should hold steady throughout the spring carnival.

Jamie Melham rides at 55kg, and after opening at $13, her odds have shortened. It could be smart money, so we’re including her in picks to boost payouts.
