We’re now into the final stretch of the season, and the Brownlow Medal race continues to heat up.

Round 16 delivered some huge performances from both stars and emerging names, as a few players made serious statements in their chase for Charlie.

In slippery conditions, both sides lit it up in a shootout.

Joel Freijah had a breakout game with 23 disposals and four goals to edge the three votes, just ahead of Isaac Heeney who kicked five and gathered 21 touches in a strong showing for the Swans.

Gold Coast vs Melbourne

Matt Rowell’s contested work was on full display as he drove the Suns to victory.

A game-high 19 contested possessions and 11 tackles stamped his authority on the match and locked in the three votes.

Hawthorn vs North Melbourne

Jack Gunston wound back the clock with a career-high seven goals to lead the Hawks to a win.

Mabior Chol also starred up forward with five goals, earning two votes in a high-scoring shootout.

Scott Pendlebury, in game 416, was simply timeless.

The veteran tallied 28 disposals, 13 contested possessions, nine clearances and kicked a late goal to grab best on ground honours.

Dan Curtin had a true breakout performance, smashing his previous disposal record with 26 touches and adding two goals in a commanding performance.

Riley Thilthorpe was dangerous up forward with five goals, but Curtin’s all-round game gets him the three.

Fremantle vs St Kilda

Jordan Clark was everywhere for Fremantle, finishing with 31 disposals, 13 contested possessions and a goal in a clear best-on performance as the Dockers got the job done.
