We have Lexus Archer Stakes tips and predictions for the Group 3 2500m staying race at Flemington on Saturday, which offers a ballot exemption into November’s $10.2 million Melbourne Cup field.
Lexus Archer Stakes odds are available at Ladbrokes, and it’s another quality stakes race on the card.
It would be hard to ignore a horse who has strung together four straight victories, and NEARCO FROD (5) has certainly earned his place in this field. He arrives in excellent form and continues to find a way to get the job done.
This is a step up in grade, but we’re confident he has the ability to measure up. By Hunter’s Light, he looks ideally suited to staying trips, with his latest success over 2400m further highlighting his stamina.
At $3.40, he’s starting to attract plenty of attention, although Craig Williams taking the ride helps explain the confidence.
Punters should expect him to settle off the speed and be produced at the right time. He has a good sustained sprint in the last 400m, which makes him tough to beat at this level.

Flemington has been a happy hunting ground for LITZDEEL (9), who boasts a win and three minor placings from just four appearances at the track. She also has a victory to her name at this 2500m distance, which is ideal form.
While 5YO mare can be frustrating at times, we expect her to have a good spring season, which could include a win in the Lexus Archer Stakes.
She caught the eye when finishing second at Caulfield last time, and this track should allow her to showcase her strengths more effectively. The extra 500m is another tick in her favour given her proven staying ability.

SUFFOLK STAR (6) makes our Lexus Archer Stakes selections, and the double-figure price makes him an interesting runner to include at the bigger odds.
A 6YO by Nathaniel, he has the pedigree to handle a staying test, while his fourth-place finish at Flemington last time out was better than it may look on paper. He didn’t get the conditions he wanted on that occasion, so a softer track on Saturday could see him produce a much stronger performance.
At $31, there’s plenty of upside for punters willing to take a chance. He looks particularly appealing as a value inclusion in Archer Stakes exotics, especially after attracting support from his opening quote of $51.

Punters get value odds with our Lexus Archer Stakes SRM, which includes our three selected runners.
- Top 2 – No. 3 Nearco Frod
- Top 3 – No. 2 Litzdeel
- Top 5 – No. 10 Suffolk Star
We have Nearco Frod Top 2, Litzdeel Top 3, and Suffolk Star Top 5, which pays $11.00 for our three-runner SRM.
The $2.50 for Suffolk Star to finish in the Top 5 gives our multi a big boost, and he could run a big race at Flemington. Litzdeel and Nearco Frod are great chances to finish in first two home, so punters should have confidence with the favourites.
