After a few of weeks off for the festive season we return just in time for the showcase Gold Coast race meeting of the year up in Queensland with $13 million on offer across the Magic Millions Day card.

We’ve got a couple of odds-on fancies the punters are coming hard and fast for in the features but, as always, we’re here to unearth those forgotten chances at juicy odds out to roll the top-elects.

Gold Coast Race 4 – $1,000,000 Queensland Magic Millions Subzero (2200m)

No. 15 Social Outcast

SOCIAL OUTCAST (5) comes into the Subzero chasing a hat-trick and presents as enormous Each Way value at 70/1 at time of publish.

Matthew Dunn’s inform Pariah six-year-old is proven at the Gold Coast track after a mid-December handicap win here over 1800m with 61kg.

He had nothing to spare on the line but still got away with it before rising in distance in an easier BM70 assignment at Ipswich a fortnight back where he carried 60.5kg to make it back-to-back victories in record time.

No doubt this is a tougher challenge and the 2200m is a query, but he comes in confident and will be absolutely airborne dropping right down to just 52kg.

Drawn a dream and Daniel Moor takes the mount.

Blinkers go on to help him out, and I can see him doing some strong work late to put himself right in the mix for a boilover.  

Gold Coast Race 5 – $1,000,000 TAB Magic Millions Fillies & Mares (1300m)

No. 7 Sunset Dreaming

SUNSET DREAMING (19) has a horror draw in the F&M event, but she’s prepared by Brisbane master Gollan, and I don’t think she’s out of the Top 3 just yet.

Rock-hard fit and ready to fire, this five-year-old daughter of Impending is yet to run in the money from two previous goes around the circuit but she’s a dual runner-up from four starts at the distance which I do like.

Comes off some nice summer lead-ups at Eagle Farm when under a length off Midnight In Tokyo over 1300m at Eagle Farm in the Listed Just Now before her third to Lonhro’s Queen in another Brissy black-type.

Beautifully bred being a half-sister to elite level champ Benedetta, she’ll benefit from the booking of Ryan Maloney who always shows up for the Gollan gallopers.

From the gate she’ll have to settle back but she’s going well enough to make up ground late and challenge for a podium finish.

Gold Coast Race 6 – $1,000,000 Howden Magic Millions Snippets (1200m)

No. 8 Gin A Tonic

GIN A TONIC (9) looks one of the most underrated on the program with Bevan Laming’s flying Better Than Ready four-year-old out to extend his picket fence.

Unbeaten this prep he comes off three straight wins and heads up north looking to frank the Victorian form lines.

At his latest on December 20, he carried 59kg to an imposing three-length romp home in the Magic Millions VIC 3YO & 4YO Classic over six furlongs and this doesn’t look to be too much of a stretch.

Double-digit draw to overcome, but Ben Melham comes aboard in a big tick, and this horse is specialist at the distance (9:4-0-3).

Down in weight, should bounce out and sit on pace, and with a touch of luck has the ability to hold off the challengers making him a must inclusion in exotics.

Gold Coast Race 7 – Restricted Listed $3,000,000 TAB Magic Millions 2YO Classic (1200m)

No. 7 Shiki

SHIKI (9) looks a proper Each Way hope in a Magic Millions Classic that feels a lot more open than the market wants us to believe.

She’s the standout filly taking on the boys and easily the pick of the Waterhouse/Bott squad at around the $12 quote. And the stats don’t lie — fillies have absolutely owned this race in recent years, winning seven editions between 2017 and 2025 and 11 of the past 16 overall.

Shiki launched her career perfectly, scraping home in the Group 3 Gimcrack at Randwick, and her form around Warwoven stacks up nicely after finishing fourth to him fresh last month.

She then headed north and wasted no time making her presence felt, winning last weekend’s Aquis Gold Pearl right here at the Coast.

She’s on the quick back‑up and stretching to 1200m for the first time, but with fitness on her side, genuine class, and a stable that basically has Magic Millions week on speed dial, she’s terrific value to be right in the thick of it late.

Gold Coast Race 8 – Restricted Listed $3,000,000 Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas (1400m)

No. 6 Spanish Treasure

SPANISH TREASURE (12) is the early mover in Guineas betting, and I’m more than happy to jump on the money trail with this in‑form Gollan runner.

Still sitting around the $15 mark, he looks terrific value — especially after that strong 1.4‑length win here at the Gold Coast last weekend, overcoming a wide gate to finally knock off his maiden in style.

He’s back to the same track and trip on the quick back‑up, and that confidence boosting win should do him the world of good. He’s fit, he’s firing, and he’s clearly handling the Coast well.

Ryan Maloney sticks, and he rides Gollan horses as well as anyone, which only adds to the appeal.

The set‑up suits, he’s nicely placed, and he’s definitely one roughie you don’t want to leave out of your Saturday plays.

Gold Coast Race 9 – Restricted Listed $2,000,000 Magic Millions Cup (1400m)

No. 2 Bosustow

BOSUSTOW (18) – while not quite at double-figures – looks a juicy swing in this year’s Magic Millions Cup just under $10 at time of publish.

The fact James McDonald has jumped off the favourite Yellow Brick to ride him only adds a bit more confidence — even from the carpark draw in gate 18.

The Blue Point four‑year‑old absolutely loves the Gold Coast. He’s two‑from‑two here, including that sharp win in last year’s Magic Millions 3YO Guineas, so returning to this track on the big stage is a huge tick.

We haven’t seen him since mid‑November, but his fifth to Jimmysstar in the Group 1 CF Orr was a sneaky good run, and this is a far friendlier set‑up fresh.

He’s a well‑bred entire — a half‑brother to Amelia’s Jewel — and he’s shown he can fire first‑up, running second in the Group 3 Bill Ritchie to kick off his last prep.

With his strong fresh stats, his love for the Coast, and J‑Mac doing the steering, Bosustow looks primed to run a big race at a juicy price.

Definitely worth an Each Way ticket.
