JASMINE PAOLINI VS ALEXANDRA EALA

Former Wimbledon runner-up Jasmine Paolini and giant-killing young gun Alex Eala do battle for a place in the quarterfinals.

Eala took out their maiden clash in February, a 6-1 7-6 victory at the Dubai Championships.

Paolini reached the 2024 decider at the All England Club – after having also made the French Open final – but has not been past the Round of 16 at a major since.

The 13th seed has struggled in recent months but is picking up momentum at Wimbledon with wins over Robin Montgomery (0-6 6-4 7-5), Viktorija Golubic (7-6 6-4) and Maria Sakkari (6-1 6-2).

Eala has been striving to replicate the potential that saw her come from nowhere to reach the Miami Masters semis and Eastbourne International final in 2025.

The 29th seed, who beat Elena Rybakina and Elina Svitolina to reach the Bad Homburg semis last month, has belated made it past the second round of a slam here with wins over Renata Zarazu (6-1 6-2), Maya Joint (3-6 6-2 6-0) and defending champ Iga Swiatek (7-6 6-2).

Those recent big scalps – and particularly knocking over Swiatek on a huge stage – stamps Eala as a definite title dark horse. Paolini is as classy as they come on her day, but those days have not occurred very consistently of late.

Prediction: BACK EALA TO COVER THE GAMES HANDICAP (-3.5) @ $2.10

MADISON KEYS VS LINDA NOSKOVA

High-profile 26th seed Madison Keys and ninth seed Linda Noskova meet for the first time in Wimbledon’s Round of 16.

Former Australian Open champ Keys is a two-time Wimbledon quarterfinalist. She outlasted Kayla Day (6-7 6-4 6-3), thrashed Katie Swan (6-1 6-4) and rallied to eliminate sixth seed and 2025 runner-up Amanda Anisimova (3-6 6-2 6-3) to earn another last eight opportunity.

Noskova warmed up for Wimbledon by taking out the Berlin Open – defeating Jessica Pegula in the final – and is through to the last 16 here for the second time via wins over Ella Seidel (6-4 6-3), Camila Osorio (6-3 4-6 6-2) and 17th seed Sorana Cirstea (2-6 6-3 7-6).

The 21-year-old Czech has one grand slam quarterfinal appearance to her credit, at the 2024 Australian Open. She’s a $2.20 outsider with Keys showing signs of her formidable, power-hitting best, but Noskova looks ready to take the next step.

Prediction: BACK NOSKOVA TO WIN @ $2.20

ALEX DE MINAUR VS FLAVIO COBOLLI

Aussie fifth seed Alex de Minaur vies for his second Wimbledon quarterfinal berth against French Open runner-up Flavio Cobolli.

De Minaur won both of the pair’s encounters to date – at the Australian Open and Vienna Open in 2024.

But Cobolli has made massive strides since then, climbing into the top 10 with his run to the Roland Garros decider.

The Italian was a quarterfinalist at Wimbledon last year and has so far won four-setters against Mariano Navone and James Duckworth, before twice coming from a set down to beat 19th seed Karen Khachanov in five.

De Minaur, whose build-up featured a run to the Libema Open final, cruised past Roman Andres Burruchaga and Adrian Mannarino in straight sets, then put away Zachary Svajda 6-2 5-7 6-2 6-4.

The 27-year-old reached the Wimbledon quarters in 2024 – pulling out with injury – and went down to Novak Djokovic in the Round of 16 last year.

De Minaur certainly has the stronger grass-court CV, but he looks too short as a $1.28 favourite in this one. Clay specialist Cobolli has proved his quality on this surface and has three top-10 wins to his name in recent months.

Prediction: BACK COBOLLI TO COVER THE GAMES HANDICAP (+5.5) @ $1.83

TAYLOR FRITZ VS ALEXANDER BUBLIK

Top-10 seeds Taylor Fritz and Alexander Bublik square off for a Wimbledon quarterfinal spot as a gripping rivalry resumes.

The head-to-head is 4-all, with Bublik winning their Paris Masters showdown late last season before Fritz’s 6-4 6-4 Stuttgart Open semifinal victory on grass last month.

A Wimbledon semifinalist last year, Fritz lost the final in Stuttgart to Ben Shelton then went down in another decider at the Halle Open to Frances Tiafoe (after beating Shelton and Alexander Zverev).

The big-serving American swamped Dusan Lajovic and Patrick Kypson in straight sets in the opening two rounds last week before seeing off Lorenzo Sonego in four. Fritz has dropped just two games on serve so far.

Bublik is searching for just his second grand slam quarterfinal appearance, having reached the last eight at the 2025 French Open.

Wrapping up a modest build-up with a first-round Halle Open loss to Mattia Bellucci, Bublik has come from behind to win five-setters against Thanasi Kokkinakis and 17th seed Tiafoe either side of a straight-sets defeat of Kyrian Jacquet so far at Wimbledon.

Having made it to the last eight in three of the past four Wimbledons, however, Fritz is the pick here if he maintains his serving standards.

Prediction: SGM – BACK FRITZ TO WIN AND BUBLIK TO WIN A SET @ $2.15
