The Reisling Stakes, formerly called the Reisling Slipper Trial, is a Group 2 race conducted at Randwick Racecourse on Randwick Guineas Day each Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Run on a Saturday in early – mid March, the 1200m sprint is conducted on the same day as the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) for three-year-olds and the Group 1 Canterbury Stakes (1300m).

Open only to two-years-old fillies, the set weights clash offers $300,000 in total prize money including $170,000 to the winner. It, along with the equivalent race for colts and geldings on the card the Group 2 Todman Stakes (1200m), offers a Golden Slipper ballot exemption to the winner.

The Group 1 $5 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) is the richest race for juveniles held anywhere in the world and takes place at Rosehill Gardens two weeks later.

The last Golden Slipper Stakes winner to come straight out of a Reisling Stakes run was Estijaab (2018) who completed the double. The year before She Will Reign (2nd) improved on her Reisling second to take out the feature, following Mossfun (2nd) in 2014. Reisling Stakes Field

The Reisling Stakes race field attracts a promising line-up of young two-year-old fillies eyeing a Golden Slipper Stakes start at Sydney’s other premier track a fortnight later. Hopefuls are usually very early into their careers contesting the Reisling Stakes during their opening campaign, or off a spell out of a short spring preparation of one or two runs.

A traditional lead-up race into the Reisling Stakes is the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100m), open to both male and female juveniles, at Rosehill the month before that last produced a winner with Erno’s Cube (3rd in 2024).

Reisling Stakes nominations close on the Monday before the race followed by the release of the final field of acceptances and barrier draw on the Wednesday.
