The Silver Slipper Stakes is a Group 2 race held at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse in February each Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival. It is the co-headline event at the meeting along with the Group 2 Hobartville Stakes (1400m) for three-year-olds heading towards the Randwick Guineas next race.

Open only to two-year-old horses, the Silver Slipper Stakes is run at set weights over 1100m and is the first open sex race for the age group of the season. The sprint offers $300,000 in total prize money including over $170,000 to the winning juvenile.

The Silver Slipper Stakes winner is exempt from ballot in the season’s richest race for two-year-olds – the Group 1 $4.92 million Golden Slipper Stakes (1200m) run at the track a month later. The latest two-year-olds to complete the coveted Silver Slipper Stakes – Golden Slipper Stakes double are She Will Reign (2017) and Farnan (2020).

The latest edition of the Silver Slipper Stakes took place on Saturday February 24, 2024 at Rosehill Racecourse and was won by the Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott-trained favourite Straight Charge ($2.45F) who hit the front early and led his stablemate Espionage all the way home.
