We’re set for a huge midweek program in Tasmania when ten races are run and won on 2025 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup Day.

A Soft (5) track has materialised at publish, while the rail will be set out three metres around the entire course.

I’ve run the rule over the card, and you can find all of my Ladbrokes Launceston Cup Day tips and best bets for Launceston below.

Race 1 - 12:47pm AEDT

LAFM Maiden (1400m)

Hartfelt is third-up and primed to strike on Ladbrokes Launceston Cup Day.

The Harry Angel gelding debuted with a fine performance to finish third, beaten just over half a length here in January before flashing late to finish second in a similar race last time.

Fitter third-up, he can begin his rise through the grades.

Race 2 - 1:22pm AEDT

Sporties Hotel Maiden (1200m)

Dubai Affair is another third-up galloper that looks ready to win on Launceston Cup Day.

Dubai Affair finished on the placegetters’ heels at Hobart when resuming, while she was tough behind an impressive Gems Eagle here at her latest.

Fitter third-up and back down to 1200m, this looks a great opportunity for her.

Listed Gold Sovereign Stakes (1200m)

The first black type of the day looms as a great contest but I am keen on Crack The Shutters.

Crack The Shutters was only just denied by Zany Girl at Hobart on debut last month and enjoyed plenty of improvement into a dominant win at the same course last time out.

She has plenty of upside and something like this looks well within her abilities.

Race 4 - 2:32pm AEDT

City Of Launceston Royal Rambo (1200m)

Turk Warrior is hard fit and rates as a key winning chance in the Royal Rambo.

The talented sprinter has picked off plenty of nice races throughout his career, and while he is yet to strike in four runs back this time, there is absolutely no doubting his fitness this week.

Bulent Muhcu can take him forward again and he’ll be in it for a long way.

PFD Food Services 3YO Classic (1200m)

I’m happy to stick with Ms Tasmania when she goes around in Wednesday’s 3YO Classic.

Ms Tasmania turned in a rare flat performance at her latest appearance, but her form prior to that was excellent, and included three wins from as many starts.

She’s hard fit, drawn ideally and can bounce right back.

Ladbrokes Community Sports Series BM64 Handicap (2100m)

I’m going to have something on Swoop There It Is in Race 6 on Ladbrokes Launceston Cup Day.

It has been a short while since Swoop There It Is won a race, but she has turned in some competitive performances this time in and was only just denied at this track and trip late last month.

This looks to be one of the more open contests on the program and a horse like Swoop There It Is can capitalise.

Group 3 Vamos Stakes (1400m)

Geegees Mistruth has opened a short and justifiable favourite in Vamos Stakes betting.

Having gone through her debut prep unbeaten in four starts, the Wordsmith filly certainly wasn’t out of her depth on the mainland in spring, placing in a couple of black type contests most notably first and second up.

Her fresh performance and victory in the Group 3 Mystic Journey Stakes here in Tassie was eye-catching and she’ll only improve for it, so I am going to select her as the winner in a Same Race Multi and pump up my odds with In Her Stride running into the first three.

Same Race Multi selections:

  • No. 13 Geegees Mistruth (Win)
  • No. 4 In Her Stride (Top 3)

Race 8 - 4:54pm AEDT

Group 3 Ladbrokes Launceston Cup (2400m)

This is shaping as a memorable edition of the Ladbrokes Launceston Cup, pitting a quality local contingent up against some excellent interstate raiders.

Mark Zahra has been booked to ride early favourite, Promises Kept, and I think that will prove the difference.

Promises Kept has returned to the races in career-best form this time, and after winning the Summer Cup in his first Tasmanian start, he was only just denied in the Hobart Cup last time out.

There’s no doubting his fitness this week, and this really does look a perfect feature race for him.

Race 9 - 5:29pm AEDT

Listed Hellova Street Stakes (1600m)

The Hellova Street Stakes has drawn some talented milers, but I simply cannot look past the ever dangerous, The Inevitable.

The Inevitable has been arguably Tasmania’s best racehorse for the last two or three years, and he has continued to pick off some of the better races in the Apple Isle.

He won both the Conquering Stakes and the Tasmania Stakes before running third in the Thomas Lyons on Hobart Cup Day, but out to the mile this week, I think he’ll bounce back.

Shedcorp Tas BM64 Handicap (1200m)

Wheeling has been racing in strong and consistent form this time and looms as a key winning chance again in the last on Ladbrokes Hobart Cup Day.

The Holler gelding is a few weeks between runs, but he has been kept up to the mark with a trial since recording a smart victory at this track and trip.

Something like this is within his abilities and I can’t find a reason why he won’t be in the finish again.
