2025 Mexican Grand Prix Preview

2025 Mexican Grand Prix Preview

Ahead of this weekend’s Mexican Grand Prix there is one question on the mind of Formula 1 fans… Max Verstappen couldn’t steal the drivers’ championship from here?

Well after last weekend in Austin the Dutchman is suddenly a real chance of coming from the clouds and spoiling the McLaren procession.

Taking maximum points from the United States Grand Prix combined with some McLaren follies reduced the deficit to Oscar Piastri to 40 points.

Another podium in the feature race also helped Lando Norris move within 14 points of his teammate and the pressure will only rise from here.

Who will come out on top this weekend? Find our previews and best bets for the Mexican Grand Prix below.

Race Winner

How can you back against Max Verstappen at the moment?

Three wins from his last four races and five consecutive top-two finishes makes him a deserved favourite in the market this weekend.

Last year he struggled to a sixth place finish while his car was in the middle of a slump.

But he has the pace, he’s driving as well as we have seen him and his confidence is going to be maxed out.

Podium Finish

It’s now or never for Oscar Piastri as he faces the very real prospect of losing his lead in the standings by the end of this weekend.

A fourth place finish would ensure he would head into Sao Paolo still on top of the standings but Norris can overtake him with a fifth or worse finish.

But those yips are a real cause for concern and frankly, it’s hard to back him with any confidence.

The Ferraris are flying at the moment and I’m more than happy to have something on Charles Leclerc to earn his third straight podium finish in Mexico.

Top 6 Finish

Lewis Hamilton has been a steady performer over the last few weeks and he earned his best finish since Silverstone last weekend.

For the seven time world champion, these top six finishes have come in droves and it looks like a rough first year at Ferrari might end on a high note.

Points Finish

No big odds play stands out here, but there are a couple of drivers hovering around even money that are worthwhile plays.

The Red Bulls are starting to find some pace and not only is it helping Max Verstappen push for race wins, but Yuki Tsunoda also is starting to improve.

He has three points finishes from his last five starts and could be primed for a profitable day in Mexico City.

Oli Bearman has also looked good in the last two weeks with back to back ninth place finishes as well.

Number of Finishers

There hasn’t been a lot of jeopardy with only two cars failing to finish over the last three races.

Perhaps we might see some wear and tear issues especially if the weather comes into play but right now these drivers are too good to back anything other than a full field finish.
