Belgium vs Senegal Predictions – Round Of 32 (Match 8)

Belgium will be hungry to progress further on Thursday after showing so much promise to finish third at the 2018 World Cup. 

Their best efforts eight years ago were followed with a disappointing Group Stage exit in 2022, and although they arrive fresh and full of confidence after putting New Zealand away 5-1, Senegal still shapes as a tough out. 

The Lions of Teranga edged their way into the knockout round with a 5-0 drubbing over Iraq, relishing playing an opponent that was more to their level after drawing France and Norway in their first two games.  

At the same time, Senegal’s tendency to concede goals in a hurry is a worrying sign, not to mention the pressure of being the only African nation remaining in the tournament.  

Given this is their first-ever meeting, you can expect both sides to feel each other out in the early stages. Belgium’s class in the final third should prove the difference though with plenty of Senegal’s cracks on show in the Group Stage.
