There is a lot of speed in this contest, which suits him, and he’s the one they have to beat despite being on the second line of betting.

He is never a runner we like to rule out, and he pulled many punters’ pants down when winning at Group 1 level last campaign. However, this would be a massive effort to win the Moir Stakes, and we can’t see it happening.

At one stage of her career, she had a better turn-of-foot than most runners in Australia. However, that change in speed has been tapered over the last couple of preparations, and she’ll need to regain that form.
The $14 odds are generous, but she could struggle to show her best at Sandown.

One of the most interesting runners in the Moir Stakes. Our AJ Moir Stakes betting guide 2026 hasn’t found room for her in picks, but she is a talented mare on her day.
She is a runner we want to follow for the rest of the spring, and she could pick up a Group 1, but it’s unlikely to be the Moir.

Her fresh-up form reads well, and she has a placing at Sandown at her only attempt. That makes her a winning threat, despite 1000m being well short of her best.
She is a runner to keep in mind when playing the exotics, but as the odds suggest, she’s working towards 1400-1600m races, so it might be best to leave her out of Moir Stakes picks this weekend.

A rock-solid sprinter coming off a Group 1 win at Morphettville in the Sangster. That was a gutsy effort, and it was one of her career-best performances.
Is she good enough to win fresh over 1000m? That’s the big question, and she might need a few runs under her belt to show her best this spring.

The mare has only two wins to her name, but she might be slipping under the radar in early betting markets.

She is more than capable, so the double-figure odds are worth taking.

We expect her to need more racing in her legs this spring, but watch for her to win a big race in a month or two.

She is the fit runner of the field, and she is loving her work recently. Her winning form can’t be overlooked in the Moir Stakes, and she is quick enough to hold off a talented Group 1 field.
She’ll jump and run with Craig Williams riding, and it’s tough to find any negatives about her chances.

Big odds on offer, and she is clearly the outsider of the field. There is nothing wrong with her form, but she doesn’t often run against this class of field.
We expect her to struggle in the run to the line, and if she beats a few runners home, that’ll be seen as a success.

Punters get better odds than expected for this rising star, who flashed home for second in The Goodwood.
She is another runner who isn’t suited at 1000m, and her best form could come over 1400m this spring. However, she is a lightly-tried type who is good enough to figure in the money in the Moir Stakes.
Leave her out at your peril.

We would prefer to see her keep racing in slightly lower grades, but we’re not shocked to see connections having a go.

She is a 3YO filly with oodles of pace, and she’ll need it to cross the field from the wide barrier, so she hasn’t been helped by the Moir Stakes barrier draw.
Speed can see you win any race, so she should be tough to beat, despite rising in class significantly.
