Group 1 performed Written Tycoon colt Public Attention ($5) was too strong first-up with the gun grey from the Price / Kent Jnr stables finishing strongly to rundown Linebacker inside the final 50m and win the 2025 Eskimo Prince Stakes drawing away ahead of tougher autumn targets.

The Eskimo Prince Stakes is a Group 3 sprint race conducted in either late January or early February as a lead-up into the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.

Run at set weights plus penalties, the event is open only to three-year-olds and offers $250,000 in prize money.

Contested over 1200m, the Eskimo Prince Stakes was first run in 1984 and gained Group 3 status in 2015.

Having been run and won over various racecourses around Sydney, it currently takes place at Royal Randwick Racecourse as the sole Group status race on the standalone card.

The event is named in honour of the 1964 Golden Slipper Stakes winner Eskimo Prince.

Horses that do well in the Eskimo Prince Stakes may have bigger autumn targets in sight including the Group 1 Randwick Guineas (1600m) in March.

Kementari (2018) was the last horse to complete the Eskimo Prince Stakes – Randwick Guineas double.

In 2022 Converge improved on a third in the Eskimo Prince Stakes results to win the Randwick Guineas and run second in that year’s Group 1 Rosehill Guineas (2000m).

The 2023 Randwick Guineas also came via a lead-up run in the Eskimo Prince with Communist improving on his third in the Group 3.

Man From Uncle (2017) and subsequent Randwick Guineas champion Kementari (2018) are the last horses to do the Eskimo Prince – Hobartville Stakes double.
