The Group 1 Ladbrokes Doomben 10,000 headlines a massive day of racing this Saturday at Doomben.

Along with the first Group 1 of this year’s Queensland Racing Carnival, there’s five other black-type races on the nine-race program.

You can find our detailed runner by runner Doomben 10,000 preview here

We’ve provided our bests bets for each race below.

Race 1 - 11:48AM AEST

QTIS Two-Year-Old Handicap (1110 METRES)

Rising Pacific (6) looks ready to produce a peak performance following three very good and improving runs this preparation.

The Tony Gollan-trained son of Preferment produced his best effort this time in work last start over 1600m at Eagle Farm where despite never being on the track, he ran on strongly to finish just under a length second.

He will appreciate racing at Doomben where he won over this distance the last time he raced at the track.

Gollan has called on top jockey Jamie Kah to ride and she should be able to give the gelding a peach of a run from barrier 4.

1 Unit – Rising Pacific (6)

Race 2 - 12:23PM AEST

BENCHMARK 78 Handicap (1350 METRES)

Weigall Tiger (9) was a touch unlucky when resuming over 1300m at Eagle Farm last start.

The Kelly Schweida-trained three-year-old gelding lobbed in a good position but was shuffled back on the turn and then was held up which proved costly as he ran on strongly to finish third by a length.

He’ll strip fitter and did win second-up last preparation which was part of a four-race winning streak.

Cejay Graham, who claims 1.5kg, can settle handy and give her mount every chance.

1 Unit – Weigall Tiger (9)

Race 3 - 12:58PM AEST

3YO PLATE (1350 METRES)

Mchale (10) began this preparation with a bang with wins in his first two races back at Warwick Farm and Wyong.

The Chris Waller-trained son of Shooting To Win then ran well third-up in the Group 3 Carbine Club Stakes on a heavy track before storming home to finish third in the Group 3 Hawkesbury Guineas last start.

He’s at peak fitness now and gets the service of the world’s best jockey, James McDonald.

From the inside gate he should settle closer in the run and looks to be one of the major players.

1 Unit Each Way – Mchale (10)

Race 4 - 1:33PM AEST

GROUP 3 JRA CHAIRMAN'S HANDICAP (2000 METRES)

Deny Knowledge (6) comes to Queensland for the Group 3 JRA Chairman’s Handicap on the back of a brave effort in the Listed Mornington Cup over 2400m.

The Michael Kent-trained mare opened up a massive eight-length lead and only weakened in the final 100m to finish three lengths fourth.

She’ll appreciate the drop back to 2000m given she gave a terrific sight two starts back over the distance in the Group 3 Easter Cup at Caulfield.

A positive jockey change will find her a length or two with Jamie Kah taking the ride.

1 Unit – Deny Knowledge (6)

Race 5 - 2:08PM AEST

LISTED MEMBERS' HANDICAP (1600 METRES)

Territory Express (4) has been in sublime form this preparation.

The four-year-old gelding resumed in great order when finished like a bullet train to win at Kembla Grange.

Two starts back he came with a powerful burst to finish a head second to Democracy Manifest in the Group 2 Ajax Stakes which put the writing on the wall last start for the Provincial-Midway Championships Final which he won impressively.

He now rises to 1600m which is a distance he has won over before and the likely strong speed will aid his chances.

1 Unit – Territory Express (4)

Race 6 - 2:43PM AEST

GROUP 2 SPIRIT OF BOOM CLASSIC (1200 METRES)

Rich Dottie (12) started her career in fashion with a win over 1000m on the Caulfield Heath track.

The daughter of Written Tycoon settled on the leader’s back before charging along the fence to win by a neck.

With two subsequent winners and a number of good performers in feature races, the form out of that race has been good.

The rise to 1200m looks ideal second-up and she should be given a great run on speed by Tim Clark in the Spirit Of Boom Classic

1 Unit Each Way – Rich Dottie (12)

Race 7 - 3:22PM AEST

LISTED BRIGHT SHADOW (1110 METRES)

Parisal (1) returned in great order last start when running on strongly to win the Listed Hawkesbury Rush.

That was the Godolphin-owned mare’s fourth win from as many starts over this distance.

She’ll strip fitter and has a great record second-up boasting a win over this distance at Rosehill two preparations ago and a half-length second to Group 1 winning mare Benedetta in the Group 3 Cockram Stakes last preparation.

James McDonald takes the ride and should give her a lovely run from barrier 4.

1 Unit – Parisal (1)

Race 8 - 4:02PM AEST

GROUP 1 LADBROKES DOOMBEN 10,000 (1200 METRES)

I Wish I Win (1) brings superior form to the race and is a justifiable favourite.

Since coming to Australia from New Zealand in 2022, he has only been outside the top three once in 10 feature race starts and the unplaced run was a 1.35 length fifth in the 2022 Group 1 Toorak Handicap.

His barnstorming Group 1 TJ Smith Stakes win last year was highlight reel material as he ran down Giga Kick in trying conditions.

He went within a neck of winning The Everest and arguably should have won given he was held up in the straight.

The gelding is six weeks between runs following a first-up third in this year’s TJ Smith Stakes and that will have topped him off nicely for the Queensland Racing Carnival.

Much was made of him drawing barrier 1 in The Everest and it not suiting his racing style and that is again an issue here with him starting from the pole, however he gets the best jockey in the business James McDonald to steer.

2 Units – I Wish I Win (1)

Race 9 - 4:43PM AEST

GROUP 3 ROUGH HABIT PLATE (2000 METRES)

Autumn Angel (15) has been freshened after running on powerfully to win the Group 1 Australian Oaks.

The Moody and Coleman-trained daughter of The Autumn Sun has been in red hot form this preparation with a win in the Group 2 Kewney Stakes three starts back and a hard fought half-length second in the Group 3 Adrian Knox Stakes two starts ago.

She drops from 2400m to 2000m but that won’t be a problem given she’s five weeks between runs.

While she’s drawn awkwardly, she is extremely well weighted under the set weight conditions of the Rough Habit Plate.

2 Units – Autumn Angel (15)
